It's easier to buyout Staal's contract than trade him, that NTC or NMC ( depending on which site you looked) really ****ed us.
It becomes limited on July 1. I'm not worried about it.

You can be right, sometimes I forgot that AV is gone and things will be different. A lot will depend in how Quinn will employ our players.I'd prefer to have 3 vets. Staal is average at this point...I have no problem him on the bottom pair mentoring one of the rooks. This isn't AV hockey anymore where he would be getting 22 minutes of ice time. From what I remember reading, the young players only had good things to say about Staal and how he has taken them under his wing. Learning from vets is a vital part of a players development IMO.
A back up goalie for a ‘good’ NHLer?....Define ‘good’?they have trade value as add-ons and in 3 years he could be ready for NHL backup, then you trade him for a good NHLer when the rebuild is done. Asset management.
Multiply that by 1000x at least. Actually unfortunately it will be Kravtsov-wahlstrom/DobsonIs Kravtsov-Wahlstrom this year's Andersson-Middlestadt already?![]()

According to CapFriendly, it's just a straight NMC, no limited NTC.It becomes limited on July 1. I'm not worried about it.

It is believed to include a full no-move clause for the first three seasons followed by a modified no-trade.
I thought it was that way too. I guess we will just have to see. I think he will probably stick around for the next 2 seasons as a veteran leader anyway. Then either bought out or complianced after the lockout if there is a lockoutI noticed that too... not sure who is right here, though I'm fine deferring to them. The initial report though was that it modified in the last half.

from ny post
Yegor Rykov, the young Russian defenseman who came over in the deal that sent Michael Grabner to the Devils, had to deal with immigration and visa issues and will not attend.
Can Kravtsov buyout his contract, sign with NYR, then get loaned to the KHL team? In that situation he’d be able to play in Hartford and/or NY after the KHL season ends in April. Not saying that’s best. Just checking whether or not it’s possible/ been done before.
Well, something can apparently be done, because it was reported today that Kravstov said he will make his decision sometime later this week about coming over or staying...for this upcoming season. He can't buyout his contract at this point. He would've had to do so midseason 2017-18 for the 2018-19 season.
Under new KHL rules, Milstein said a player can’t buy himself out of his KHL contract or be bought out of his KHL contract without 18 months prior notice, so Kaprizov is undoubtedly staying in Russia two more seasons.
I really doubt that's a legitimate obstacle here...If you watch the video, Gorton started by saying that he's not sure because he can't read Russian.
I really doubt that's a legitimate obstacle here...
Well that doesn't appear to be the case here as Gorton knows his contract is complicated, haha.Another issue is often that KHL teams don't let NHL teams see the contract. I think Garth Snow remarked that about Sorokin rather recently. Gorton might've even said it about Shestyorkin before. KHL teams are often not cooperative, so if they are still under contract, there's more obstacles than there would be from teams in other leagues.
