no many pieces moving around that could bite either team in the ass
Fortune favors the bold.
The need to improve to compete at level to win cup, which must overcome luck and injury factors, forces teams to push envelope.

# of Pieces are secondary
if deal improves team enough, that is dominant factor

disagree but keeping it to this thread, Isles can use Zuc at the right price, which 2019 1st is, and Skjei is a known commodity at 24, fits their need. Sure any of the Islander 1sts could become better than Skjei, but that is not a given, and Isles have to wait to find out and get that production. This deal allows them to compete immediately AND gives them a better chance to keep Tavares, who can walk to Leafs if he has no reason to stay.
isles couldn't use a player like zucc the least, let alone that the right price. they need a 3C and left handed defensemen.

Bang, this man gets it. IF the Isles decide to trade their picks it will be either for a 3c, goalie, or top 4d. We do not need anymore wingers especially one whos contact will be up soon.

1. Where does Zucc fit into our lineup? Bailey, Eberle, JHS should fill out the top 9 rw spots, Also, why would we give up a first for a position we don't need to upgrade.
2. Skjei is intriguing, but not at that price
3. Isles aren't trading 3 first rounders unless an absolute superstar is coming the other way.

1 read you are looking for mo scoring, sorry I don't remember where, but who couldn't use some help?

2 Skjei is not being given away it is that price or no deal, which is fine if ya don't wanna pay.

3 Perhaps. Or perhaps LL figures he can still work w/3 2nds in 2 deep drafts, and take the immediate player help instead of the development. And what absolute superstar we would all love to have is realistically gonna be made available.
Malkin - do not want, too banged up and up there
Eichel, McDavid - of course not
even MacKinnon a bargain at 6+, you are not getting him.

Not likely to get a superstar, and when you do, there are usually strings - EK is rental, will require huge contract and that is if you don't have to take Ryan as well.

Nothing is free, clean and easy as to player acquisition at this level.

1. The Isles were one of the highest scoring teams in the league last year, not sure why we need more scoring
2. I am ok with no deal then (nothing against Skjei, just think we can do better with the pick)
3. Don't think he values those players over the 3 first rounders. I never said the Isles were getting a superstar, I said I would only move Pulock in a trade for one. I am not giving Pulock away unless in a deal for a superstar, and if not I am definitely ok with him in the top 4 this year.

Just don't see a good trading match here.

Not so silly.
Provides useful assets at fair price.
If Isles don't want to pay that, that's fine and both sides live with what they have.

Also not so fast on EKarlsson
Sens purportedly want someone to take Ryan's horrific albatross of a contract back as part of the deal.

EK = 13ish mil +/-
Ryan = 7mil
resigning JT = 10ish mil

granted you can unload some salary somewhere, but let's not pretend EK is an easy option

I think it is reasonable to say that if the team trading for Karlsson offered 3 first round draft picks that they would not have to take Ryan in the deal.

Ryan gets added when it is a 1st,2nd/3rd liner, 5-6 d man. That is where Ryan has a lot of value for the sens.

I also doubt that Karlsson signs for 13, probably around 11. EK at 11 and JT at 11 is totally doable, and the two are about as good as it gets.

The easiest way to view this is if that Car deal w/Rangers happens, Darling is an option Isles can have as freebie throw-in, and that bonus aside, it is
3 NYR 2nds for 3NYI 1sts
with Skjei and Zuc as the price paid for that flip

Zuc is worth a 1st MAYBE a 1st + depending on where that 1st is
Skjei is worth a 1st +

total 2 1sts ++ value = those players, plus Isles get 3 2nds

Again no matter how you want to word it that is an awful deal for the Islanders. No worries as these teams will never swing a deal this big so it’s really a non starter anyways.
