They put The Rock on the show to say absolutely nothing of value.

That's absolutely not business as usual lol.
He was primarily there because he was in L.A. It's about the same as other top star appearing when they're basically just there or when they moved to the CW. IT's mostly the same show as usual except for a promo segment.

Typically when they have a top guy there it's either to announce something or have a match.

On the rare occasions when somebody like Cena or Taker has appeared with no context, it's because they were going head to head against Dynamite.

There was seemingly no competition they were up against or purpose for Rock's appearance, in this case. There's nothing wrong with trying to pop a rating, it was just seemingly out of nowhere and with no importance.
