Nurse DoPS hearing for cross checking Quinton Byfield - suspended 1 game (Mod Warning Post #136)

Stupid play on Nurse's part but unless Byfield is legitimately injured it's a 1-2 game max suspension.
 
1 game suspension serves no purpose. It actually helps Edmonton.

If he’s going to a hearing it’s safe to assume he’s gonna be punished in some way.

Minimum punishment for him and the oilers is 2 games.

Let’s see what happens

these teams have played each other more than anyone in any sport over the last 4 years, dops would be wise to try to get ahead of it a little, and edmonton was smart to test the boundaries of dops stupidity

I mean they pretty much already said you could do that 2 years ago when Pietrangelo only got one game for trying to injure Draisaitl with a 2 handed slash to his wrist in a game that was already over. Hilarious enough in that same game Nurse also got suspended for 1 game for an instigator in the last 5 minutes despite being involved in a mutual fight.

I think we already know the DOPS is awful.

Nurse’s cross check was intentional and egregious. A one game suspension would be a joke and send the wrong message. 2-3 game suspension would be appropriate and should include PO games.

I didn't say the Kings are innocent. But either you think this is normal behavior of the Oilers or you can agree what Nurse did was the pinnacle of clown shit. And sorry, without a lot of your starters, you had some AHLers doing dumb stuff.

Regarding Fiala's slash, I'll just pull a page from the Oilers fans' playbook in this thread: standard play.

Kind of like it was and did with the Pietrangelo slash 2 years ago. You really think the DOPS is anything other than a joke and doesn't constantly send the wrong message?

I don’t like DoPS and think it sucks but Nurse should still be suspended multiple games for that egregious hit.

it's the kinda play that makes me care less about any NHL players well-being. they can kill each other, for all I care. because they themselves don't really care. or enough of them simply don't care.

And I'm telling you the DoPS has a history of not giving players what they deserve. Pietrangelo's 2 handed axe swing on Draisaitl's wrist was a lot worse than this and he only got a game, and really the league decided to even it up by suspending Nurse 1 game for an instigator that not only wasn't an instigator, but was a scenario that had happened twice that year (instigator in the last 5 minutes) and neither of those incidents resulted in a suspension.

The DoPS cares only about optics and trying to look like they aren't influencing playoff series. They don't actually give a shit about player safety or proper punishment when guys intentionally try to hurt each other.

cracks me up how keyed in you guys are on him going by mikey in a sport where the running joke is that everyone's nickname is some shortened version of their name with a -y at the end

Lamenting over what an adult calls himself sounds like you have bigger things to deal with emotionally than what Kings fans do and do not defend.

And equating pulling someone down to a headshot on a prone, vulnerable player shows you have either zero objectivity or have issues with reality. Especially when I literally just said I didn't say the Kings are innocent. It sounds like you just want to fight.

Every time an Oiler gets looked at cross-eyed there's a main forum thread.....

I mean this is the scrum you are referring to....nowhere near as bad as bulldogging a guy's head into the ice...that you are ok with.....
