I was thinking a 1-game suspension but hearing about his history, I can definitely see him get 1-2 playoff games off too.
The play itself, his history, and the context behind the action (intent to injure an upcoming playoff opponent) all go against him.

That was a pretty bogus suspension. Nurse has done some suspension worthy things, but that wasn't one of them. Neither was the play tonight.

Nurse is easily the best player in the nhl at crosschecking and punching people in the back of the head. He's honestly mastered his craft.

Why tf do people keep saying "hopefully just precautionary" when the announcement was literally upper body injury.
He was injured. I'm sure he'll recover. Hopefully soon. But let's be clear here before you try to defend this scummy behavior: it has led to some degree of injury.

I’m so confused as to what people are so angry about on this play.
Nurse cross-checked him down after the goalie covered the puck which is like a standard nhl play which happens all the time and Byfield was already moving up after that, that extra shot he gave resulted in the match penalty.
The Chatfield play was far more dangerous

If he is injured that is unfortunate and no one is happy to see that.
With how injuries are disclosed in NHL these days, it could be just precautionary and he’s fine but could take new few days off just to possibly force NHLs hand in suspension

-Star player one of the hottest in league and kings leader for last third of season
-dead play, whistle had already gone, nothing unusual done by Byfield
-defenseless face down player
-premeditated—nurse already mad at previous whistle, tried to horse collar QB and he wouldn’t go down, DDTed him to ice here before crosscheck to head
-QB injured and did not return
If he doesn’t get at least a few playoff games it’s gonna be open season.

I don’t understand the logic behind it. Your team is already badly banged up, so you go out and do something like this? Nurse shouldn’t be giving the Kings a reason to go after McDavid/Draisaitl when he knows they are hurt..
Oilers were rocking a barely AHL quality team tonight, so why let yourself get that emotional about a loss?
