The 2nd hit is the bad one for sure. I can see the glancing shot is off the helmet but it does smack Byfield's head into the ice. Idk what king of suspension that'd be but I do agree that suspending someone for game 82 might as well not be a punishment when it literally doesn't matter. If anything it'd just be time to rest up

A neck injury is a bigger concern than a concussion there. Having your head driven down onto a hard surface is one thing, but when it forcibly changes the angle of your head your neck is what defends the motion.

I tore a neck muscle in almost the exact same situation.

NHL DOPS seems to consider prior history above all else. That Chatfield, play if committed by Kadri or Wilson, would be 5-10 game suspensions.
