Its so f***ing dumb how NBA teams throwaway good coaches today
Nuggets are 47-32 right now in #4 spot in West
so what's firing him with 3 games to go gonna do?If you go by Malone's comments over the last few weeks it's clear that he lost the room. It doesn't matter how good of a coach you are or what your pedigree looks like when that happens. With the way the team has been playing the writing was on the wall.
I do have some sympathy for him for sure, though. It wasn't his fault that his GM had a wildly different outlook on roster construction than he did. Booth is the real villain in all this and Malone simply went down with the ship. Hopefully the next guy can finally manage to get Jok another all-star for the first time in his career.
Ownership believed that the team would continue to bottom out with Malone regardless of firing Booth. They think that this is the only thing they could possibly do to give their team a spark heading into the playoffs. It won't work given the roster, but that was the justification.so what's firing him with 3 games to go gonna do?
fire him after the year.
Shams is saying the owners and the tax threshold was a sticking point as the GM wanted a build a bench and the owner didnt want to
While not entirely the same situation, this is what Detroit fans went through after winning the title in '04 until their last gasp in '08.
Ownership didn't want to spend. But at least our owner's health was declining rapidly.
Denver won their title a couple years ago and just gave up.
