Miller seems to have these types of issues but is the kind of guy that you win with. You probably should ask the rest of the core who they want to stay and move the other guy.

miller to utah for shea weber, a 1st and aku raty. nucks unite the raty brothers and can ltir shea weber to get 20m in cap space to spend at the deadline
If Vancouver would be willing to also take Kerfoot in the trade ($3.5m cap hit bottom 6 forward and then UFA in the summer) then I think Utah should pull the trigger on this. Not sure that Vancouver would though...

JT won’t have much more left in the tank and petey has good pedigree
You're right, EP could be anything, he could maybe even be as good as Miller one day!
As good a player as Miller is, no one wants that contract. Not going to be easy to move.
One of the two has a shitty contract that nobody would want, but it ain't Miller

Thatd be a great move. Ask every player who they'd rather have. Then trade EP and anyone else who picked his side. You're much closer to a cup

While I’m not a big fan of EP, I think this notion that “you win with JT Miller”-thing is some made-up garbage. He hasn’t won anything, and teams like Tampa and the Rangers wanted him gone badly. He seems to have a negative aura around him. EP is an entitled child, so I get why him and JT won’t work

You win with players like Miller.

But, 100-point centers like Pettersson don't grow on trees.

Oof.
Truth.

Except Pettersson has done it once and is on track to not even really be close, so you're trading a centre at around a ppg.

Miller has at least 1 100 point season and 1 at 99.

That the Canucks need to trade one of Pettersson or Miller is a mild take.

The spicy take is that they need to trade both. They are both detrimental to the locker room in their own way and that may very well continue even after one is traded.

And don’t forget—this is the Canucks. They are a franchise that traded two all-star starting goalies within a calendar year—so, trading two 1C caliber centers back to back would track.

Not happening from Sabres. EP40 for Cozens and Byram could be a starting point, though.

Is EP40 considered a more desirable asset for the Sabres?

JT Miller is the more fiery type that you'd think the Sabres would need more. Of course the age issue is in Pettersson's favor, but l wouldn't say I fully trust his production going forward. Very moody player with a bad injury history.

Anyways, my take is that Cozens and Byram for Pettersson is a very risky move but one the Sabres should take, if available. And Cozens and Byram for Miller is an even more appealing move, also risky, but gives them the player they need the most.

In what world is Miller's contract the bad one? 99, 82 and 103 point seasons over the past three years, and currently three points shy of PPG again this season despite everything going on.

A lot of teams might not be able to fit 8M in but every one of them would want Miller.

JT is probably ultra competitive and abrasive, with EP being the opposite. I imagine he tells him to play harder and it doesn't go over well.

Under no circumstance should JT Miller be put into that Buffalo Sabres lockerroom. ... even before you get to the age factor.

I think they’re both on shitty contracts and I don’t know that either brings back enough to truly help you. You’re just looking to move as much of the money as you can. I think as bad as Petey has been there’s probably a higher believe you can get longer value out of him, but I wouldn’t want my team to trade for either.

Miller has played well to this point, but he’s got five years left. No one thinks he’s going to be great the last couple of years there. He’s clearly a strong personality and he did just take some time off. I don’t think the value Canucks fans want is there. You’re just happy to move the money.

This is the answer and likely already been done. Hughes and tocchet would be the facilitators and find out where the room lies.
