Has Blankenburg been that ineffective? I liked him in his younger years as a Blue Jacket and 7 points in +9 in 32 games while being pressed into pretty decent usage service (18:20 per game) seems decent returns on the surface.

He just too little and lightweight and not dynamic enough in the opposite direction to be of much use these days?

I think we've grown weary of how easily he is bounced around and how often he decides to try to play goalie by flopping all over and around Saros in the crease.

He can skate, I'm not sure how to explain the +/-, and we did need some kind of warm body to put out there on RD when we jettisoned Carrier and Fabbro. While we struggle for a top-3 draft pick, I don't mind having him out there. It's a bit tedious that our team might have 6 or 8 guys who probably shouldn't be in the NHL on any given night, though. But yeah, I think your finally sentence fits. The Preds need to get better players than him. Some day.

The Jeannot in Tampa situation has a lot of similarities as the PLD in LA situation.

Acquisition cost made it seem worse than it really is.

This season, Jeannot has been an ideal 3rd-4th line guy. People gotta take that 20+ goal season and chuck it out the window, because it’s never happening again.
