Claimed off Waivers: [NSH] Predators claim D Andreas Englund off waivers from the Kings

Friedman and now Englund.

So Wilsby is out and so is Lauzon.

Gravel is a minor leaguer…I assume Nashville brass sees Friedman and Englund as more reliable bottom pair/#7 types than Stastny or Del Gaizo? I’m surprise Stastney is in Milwaukee. How’s Blankenburg been? And Barron?

Just a glut of 6/7/8 types now.

Hopefully this spells the end for Lauzon/Schenn here.

Are they still airing that Saros/ROR "No Goals" commercial every ad break?
I drink to much during games now to notice.

He's fine as a 7th defenseman, but if you're expecting him to play in your top 6 consistently, then good luck.
We said the same thing about Schenn, and then Bruno put him on the top pairing.

As I said in his waived thread

Played too many games for the Kings last year; Was VERY good in his role till the turn of the year, then turned into arguably the worst dman in the NHL. Basically hard carried by Jordan Spence.

physical and a very good skater, responsible if relatively worthless with the puck. Really like him as a #7 but he should absolutely NOT be an everyday guy. But of course the Kings are playing 5D chess so he's their #9 or whatever because we're the smartest team in the league

He's a likeable guy, good soldier, will scrap though it's usually on his own behalf after a bad hit rather than standing up for a teammate

Gravel?

Are we talking.. former King Kevin Gravel?

I - I don't even know if he's an upgrade over him tbh.
Thats the one. Hopefully, it is just as pressbox filler so Kevin can help Milwaukee's defense. We have had to call him up every now and then with Lauzon on IR and Wilsby day to day. Wilsby shoukd be good to go after the 4 nations break.

He joins Blankenburg, Gravel, Schenn, and Lauzon as others we might wish weren't playing in our top 6, alas. The bar for making the top 6 on the current edition of the Preds is not high. :(

I won't mind if the team just shelters Stastney or Wilsby (when he's back) by playing in a far better system for a good team in Milwaukee. Let them enjoy what winning hockey games is like while they still have their waiver exemption. Those two are currently our 3rd and 4th best D, better than all the players listed above, but it won't hurt them to finish out the season in a successful winning environment in Milwaukee. Including staying cleared for a playoff run there.

I hope it isn't Wilsby. He's great. I even doubt it's wilsby. He's been playing over 20 minutes a night the last few games.

Yeah but problem is this isn’t the 70’s. Finesse is the thing these days so smaller forwards have success too. No wonder we stink.

Gotta keep claiming nobodies so we can waive our decent guys. SMH
Yeah, you need to have balance. They have plenty of physical players. But hey, it's better than having a bad team thats super soft, haha.

Hopefully, this means that the Blankenburg experiment is coming to an end.

Has Blankenburg been that ineffective? I liked him in his younger years as a Blue Jacket and 7 points in +9 in 32 games while being pressed into pretty decent usage service (18:20 per game) seems decent returns on the surface.

He just too little and lightweight and not dynamic enough in the opposite direction to be of much use these days?
