Confirmed Trade: [NSH/NJD] Erik Haula for 2025 4th round pick and Jeremy Hanzel

Anyone familiar with the Avalanche horrible amateur scouting will know what to expect of their former 6th round pick Jeremy Hanzel.
Was surprised to see his name pop up again

It’s also hilarious to me that Nashville traded a 3rd to move Glass’s deal a year ago, then traded a 4th to acquire Haula this year because they don’t have any depth centers. All while Haula is 34 and Glass is 25, and the Penguins got an additional 3rd for Glass at the deadline.

I know it’s being beaten to death but Trotz may legitimately end up one of the worst GMs of all time. Just every move he has made has ended up awful so far.

Also, the reason the devils are moving haula is probably because they are replacing him with glass lol

3 million for a 0.5 ppg gritty veteran is really not as bad as some are making it out to be.

He's in the final year of his deal, and I could easily see NSH turning around and flipping him at the deadline for more than they paid.

It's absolutely fine. He's also an excellent pker (had some of the best pk numbers in the league last year for forwards) and wins draws.

I'm not sure you want to count on him being .5 PPG, he's still fine value for production and contract

It's only a 4th, they'll probably get more back at the deadline when they stink again. Trotz is terrible in general, but what's the big deal here?
Nashville: Arbitrage. Buy a depressed asset at a lower price knowing you can sell it for actual value now or later. Also, buy an asset to replace a roughly equivalent asset you can sell for more than you just paid for the replacement.

Basically, Nashville can sell Haula for more at the TDL than they paid now, at the same time they can profit now by playing Haula and selling ROR.

Someone has to put on the jersey and play the games next season, even if they are selling everything of value now.

New Jersey: pure salary dump on a guy they don't want any more. If they couldn't move him for something, they would have moved him for nothing.

They've got to be the favorites for McKenna at this point, right?
