I'D RATHER HAVE PEOPLE PLAY LIKE LORENTZ. AND STAAL USING THAT JAGR SIZE BUTT MORE.

I would too, but then I look around the league and it seems to have helped teams who employ guys like Tom Wilson, Brad Marchand, etc. Playing clean and hard doesn't really seem to cut it anymore, you have to let it be known you're willing to make things ugly.

After Drouin was a dudsapointment (that was unintentional but I'm not fixing it) i thought huberdeau would follow the same path, but man have he and barkov taken the step to become franchise elite players. Q is something else.

Of course, that "disappointment" turned into Sergachev for Tampa F****** Bay, because of course it did.

Yeah, it's pretty against my overall life philosophy, but if the refs are going to allow full blown assault and battery against our players (even the goalies!), I don't know what other solutions there are....

It's like I posted in another thread: Florida's scary because they have the uncanny ability to come back in games, no matter how bad it looks, and their star players know that. So you can't let your foot off the gas against them or they'll do what they did tonight against Columbus.

If the FO knows that someone like Barrie wants to play for Carolina for a similar cap hit to what Dougie's making, not unlike Krug and St. Louis, then mayyyyyyybe. But the difference between Dougie and the next best defenseman on the market is overwhelming, unlike the Krug/Petro situation. I want Dougie to stay put.

Understood but not really worried about the market. We have 7 NHL level D right now not counting what we can bring up and bring in

I never got that vibe. He's definitely the kind of dude who will put a glove in your face after the whistle, but as far as stuff like boarding and cross checks in the ribs, IDK. Maybe though, I won't pretend to have seen all that much of him.

I just remember watching games and thinking, wow this guy is such a dickhead. I wish the Canes had someone that would tune him up.
