Value of: Now how Much Would You Pay Marner

15 x 7. Leafs need to go 13.5 x 8 to keep him.
Not really unless you you think he gets zero in year 8 after, if he signs a 7 year deal.
A 7 year deal expires when he is 34, signing next deal at 35, at a cap of maybe 130-140 million then.

13 x 8 million.

Then sign Knies for that tasty 7 x 8.25

Hell...bring back Tavares for discount 7 mil x 5.

53 mil for 5 players. Real nice!

Enter Cap hell.

Yep. Rielly got suspended though. Not sure what that has to do with this thread
I just thought it was hilarious when @Gil Gunderson called it out lol

Not hating, just a funny moment.

Also we are allowed to go off topic for a post or two if it's somewhat relevant

IF Marner makes to the UFA status…. Every GM in the league is going to back the brinks truck up. There will be a crazy bidding war for him. Best player to hit free agency in years.
Yeah I agree and Canucks will be dumb not to explore that option while they can. Marner is a much more superior player than Boeser, much more consistent and I feel he will complement Pettersson better than Boeser. Boeser's best years were with Miller and now we dont have Miller so Boeser is not as effective as before. What Canucks need is more skilled offensive forwards. I feel they have too many grinders that only put 15 to 20 goals and don't have too many skilled guys. The only skilled elite player they have is Hughes and Pettersson (maybe).

I would prefer Marner goes to the Penguins at least we know he isn't winning a cup / conn smythe there.

Writing is on the wall though, he is gone. It's just time to move on.

My dark horse for Marner is San Jose, great young players, lots of draft picks coming and two of his past mentors (Jumbo and Patty) will be lobbying hard for him to make the move west.

Chicago makes a lot of sense.

They'll pick up one of Misa, Hagens, or Martone in this draft.
Bedard, Marner, and any of those guys would solidify Chicago's future on offense.

You know what…this makes sense. I could see San Jose as a landing spot for him. Up and coming team. Matthews can meet him there in 3 seasons when he is a ufa.

With a good playoff hel get 13 x 8 or 14 x7. Question is which teams that are actually competitive and a desirable destination can clear 14 million?
