The Leafs finished the season with the lowest goals against in the North division. If they don't have a goalie at all, and they have a weak D, why do they get scored on less than every team they share a division with?
More so the shitty division than the eliteness of the Leafs

Missed the 5th of the last 6 games. Only saw highlights.

Wheeler's making some real nifty plays. If the injury was in fact what was hampering him and this is what he'll be in the playoffs it bodes very well for the Jets.

Two highlight reel goals from Connor. He made Campbell look foolish on the first goal. I hope that's a testament to Connor's skill and not to Campbell's skill as a goalie. The shot on the second goal was wild.

Not sure what it is that I'm seeing in Harkins that others aren't, but I really feel like he's going to have a solid NHL career. He seems so intelligent on the ice. I was very impressed by Toninato's first game but I feel like Harkins should have gotten the opportunity with Lowry and Appleton before Toninato did.

Harkins sold me with his work ethic. I remember watching his as a rookie on the Moose. He was a nothing player who couldn’t skate — he’s not a world beater by any means but drastically improved.

Hoping we don’t lose him to Seattle.

Fair, but we're also in that division
Haha, I’m not saying we’re any better. Our D is easily worse, but our goalie is easily better.

I’d rather have really shitty D and a Vezina goalie than a weak D and no goalie if Campbell comes back down to Earth (of course, that’s not a given, he could stay hot, but everything over the course of his career suggests he’s not a .920+ goalie).

Same here. I had season tickets for his first 2 years on the Moose and my assessment was that he was slow, but if he was given enough space and time he would make some really nice and often very clever plays, but even the speed of the AHL was usually too much to allow that to happen. With the massive jump he took in his skating last season he seems to be able to create the space he needs to make those plays and he looks like he has the confidence now to make those plays with less time. I honestly feel like he'll have a better career than Appleton, and I love Appleton as a player.

I agree, and off the top of my head, I think he’s probably tracking very similar to Appleton at the same age.

Still wouldn't make Brossoit their starter. They'll certainly move on from Andersen this off-season, but Campbell has largely been very good for them. I've watched a lot of the Leafs and this is the first time in awhile they're getting competent goaltending. Gone are the days of James Reimer in a tandem with the likes of Ben Scrivens.

Campbell is a career backup/draft bust having a good year. I’m not seeing anything that will suggest he’ll suddenly fall off a cliff this year, but for over a decade now he’s been a journeyman. Larger sample size suggests a regression to the norm.

Another thing you have to take into account is I was raised on TSN — watching highlights every morning before school and hearing about how good everything Toronto is from an apparent national broadcaster. That environment has turned me into an irrational Leaf hater, and on a place as anonymous as HFBoards I do enjoy shitting on them.

Last year I predicted he would be exactly where Appleton is now. I thought he would be a high-producing surprise at third or even second (depending on injuries) line. We'll see what happens next year and in the off season, but we have a couple of forwards on the Moose along with Harkins who will be fighting for a top nine spot. There's no way Perfetti is going to play lower than the top nine, so we'll see how the line juggling goes.

Went back and watched TSN’s post-game show:

-Talks about Toronto playing without Mitch Marner and how the depth (Engvall) showed up in his absence

-Despite the Jets winning 4-2, they showed both Leaf goals and only two of the Jets goals

-Cut to the panel, says there’s no cause of concern for the Leafs, say the Jets were the more desperate team, mentioned in passing that the win is probably good for the Jets heading into the playoffs

-Mention Matthews wins the Rocket. Mention that he lead the league in shots (and even admitted that no one cares probably)

-Tavares interview about the playoffs vs the Habs

-FINALLY an interview with Kyle Connor that last all of one question before they have “technical difficulties” and move along to Raptors basketball
