I think our top line could use a good OA option, and I think Vaughans speed and intensity matches EP21 nicely, Vaughan should get some heavy ice time as he’s likely a 1st/2nd round NHL pick in the 25/26 draft. The ammo/pazi/Welly line is excellent and should stay. Carey deserves a shot for more ice time with better players, I think Moses is a good anchor for that line, maybe bounce our 6th overall pick between line 3/4 throughout the year with Laird (if we take a forward). I like Lairds game a lot as a bottom 6 guy, very reliable, Long is the best of the bunch between him Chukarev and Smith, I think Chukarev isn’t OHL ready, smith borderline. If Greer grows this summer he will be a solid 1st pairing guy with ride who can protect him, good to run the powerplay too. Enright a nice physical shutdown guy to compliment Manzo who likes to pinch and shoot. Kapageridis and a floater for the 3rd pairing.
Mike obviously in net, would like to see him actually play even more unless we get a solid backup. Lisson was a step up from Charlie but Lisson is streaky and we should be getting a 08/09 rookie in goal as Mike’s only got 2 years left tops and we have no set replacement currently. Larocque could get another look in training camp, but his athleticism and recovery needs to improve significantly, confidence too. Would prefer a 08/09 we can develop. I think they should really consider drafting a goalie in the 2n/3rd round this year, decent options from the look of it.
I don’t think we will be conference leaders next year, but I think we can run mid to high in the conference similar to Kingston/Barrie. I think we’ll see some increase in offense as our young guys get more ice time and are a little more creative than the current system. Defensively we will be even better, good systems in play and shutdown guys like Enright looking like studs. With a little more offense we’re going to be a dangerous team. Very curious to see who we draft
