North Bay Battalion 2024 25 Season Thread Part I

Tough loss, poor first period didn’t help. Most concerning was the attendance…. 2800ish fans for our first playoff game at home. Probably not very encouraging for the returnees from last years team.

If I have to watch JL18 skate down the middle of the ice to the hashes just to turn right back to the goal line and pass it off I might puke.
Gets a shooting lane on the PP, waits, lets the D and goalie adjust, shoots, puck blocked and dumped down the ice. Skates back to get it, drop pass to Moses, poor zone entry, if successful cycle the puck between Therrien Moses and Leblanc around the blue line for 45 seconds without shooting, get in a shooting lane, wait, let the D and goalie adjust, shoot, puck blocked and dumped down the ice. Skates back to get it…

For 18 and 27 …..zero hockey sense…hope your smarts in the classroom don’t match yours on the ice . Both equally tough to watch and having to keep them together made for some very frustrating nights
I hope they give Enright a shot on the powerplay next year. Kids got a cannon of a shot and can hold the line real well. Only issue is skating speed but I don’t think he’s any slower than JL18 or Moses.

I thought it was a great game overall. I'm sure the Bulldogs coach would agree that the number 8 seed gave them a good go. After 71 games, there's no sense complaining about the lack of PP production, it's been horrible all season with the players the staff continue to send out there.. regardless. I don't think the strategy is that bad, it's just the same players who can't/won't execute. 13-28-29-5-26-19-16....all better/smarter options IMO.

One play from last night that really stood out… Parker Vaughan blocked a shot, fell down and hopped up full speed to chase a puck down the ice at the end of his shift while his line mates watched. He’s got a lot of heart
Greer....Enright......Cali...Vaughn.....Moses....kjleskiov#3......Turley.....Wilson...Carey...Amo...Paziiiii......not a bad core to start next year....need better import draft......power play needs to be fine tuned with an axe...

Next year is really exciting. #6 pick in the draft this year, possibly a nice import as well, Mikey back in net. Very excited to see Cali suit up full time too.

I’d say this season was a massive success and a testament to our management and front office staff. We lost Dom, Wakely, Romani, Van Steensel, Nelson, Vilmanis, Arnsby, Kennedy, Mathurin, and others. We ran with 3 08’s all year with Greer and Vaughan playing in higher roles, a D core full of rookies learning on the fly, and a goalie who basically had to assume an elite starting role when we had no backup support (and became an absolute world beater). Regardless of all the things we pick apart with the team, the fact this group made the playoffs and have given the stacked Bulldogs a hard time is a huge win. Even if we get swept, the playoff experience for this group is priceless and will create leadership in the group, and we still get a 6th overall pick. Great year for the troops, and a masterclass in junior hockey management from our front office. Can’t wait for next year, season tickets already being renewed!

I must state that the Captain deserve to be on that PP. It's the supporting cast that is questionable. EP21 has played a full season without first line caliber wingers. Next year, 2 O/A wingers is a "Must". A top- gunner on the LW will put up a 80 point season playing with Pro21. Your O/A's have to be impact, high IQ players and also impact the younger guys.

Where did you find the bit about a 2 season limit? There's at least two imports (Jakub Chromiak and Tomas Hamara) that are in their third seasons.

And Molnar. Loshko played two in Q before this season in O, I believe.
