I know the numbers are better in 2001 and perhaps he was better during the regular season but 2002 Conn Smythe is peak Lidstrom not that it counts for this poll.

We were talking in another thread about how Federov wasn't always elite offensively in the regular season but was one of the greatest playoff performers of all time.

Numbers are more to do with circumstance than anything else, this is Lidstrom at his zenith.

Flip a coin, voted 2001 since I liked that Lidstrom made sure he got paid by Detroit's management that season.

They somehow shed the reputation later on, but the group of Devellano/Bowman/ Holland really f***ed around a bit when it came to trades/resigning/contracts with the other guys in Detroit's core Yzerman and then later Fedorov (and would of course do more of the same with Fedorov in 2003 again). Lidstrom didn't play that shit when it became his turn for negotiations with the public stance that he'd consider return to Sweden and his teammates supported him as well.
