2022 was the peak for the Hip Hop shows, move in another direction, you ain't topping it.

same way Prince was the best for it's era. Should have just moved in another direction after that because they weren't topping it.

But yeah this years halftime show is just bad.

Yeah… for knowing nominally that Kendrick Lamar is considered one of the greatest to ever do it, I can’t really name a single one of his songs and therefore this isn’t doing it for me.

Not gonna sit here and deny the greatness of someone I don’t know about, but maybe instead I’ll question if it’s a wide enough appeal to be a good halftime show (IMO, no).

Some of the ones I remember one the good side of things: McCartney, Prince, 22 (Dre, Snoop, Eminem, etc)

On the bad side... I mean at least this wasn't a full on Jackson/Timberlake or Black Eyed Peas level disaster but it was about as meh as meh gets. I find it hard to believe they couldn't get an act with wider appeal.

After Gojira killed it during the Olympics I'm more and more convinced they need a metal act at halftime to actually get people pumped. This one it sounded several times like fake crowd noises were being played over the speaker because otherwise there wasn't much of a pulse in the thing.

When asked this week I said this reminds me of Seattle vs Denver when Denver went in the anointed ones and Seattle, with an all time elite defense absolutely smacked them in the mouth
