OT: Non-Hockey Sports Thread XIII - JJ's Taking the Reins!! (Lindsay Whalen Edition)

Titans, Giants, Raiders maybe? All the teams picking in the top 10 this year who dont already have a QB would be my guess.

The "conventional wisdom" seems to be that if JJ was in this year's draft that he would go ahead of any other QB, so I agree that it would make sense that those teams looking for a QB in this draft would be more interested in JJ than Ward or Sanders.

Ye i agree with this.

I would be curious who was interested, and trying to trade for, JJ McCarthy.
Given the mediocre QB draft class this year, probably quite a few teams. You could argue that JJ would've been the top QB pick in this year's draft, and certainly the 2nd.

Rodgers is old, and partially done. He is well past his prime. it happens to every player. Signing him and expecting anything other than pre Achilles injury Cousins level of play is delusional.

He was one hopping a LOT of passes last year! He's toast.

Couldn't push off his feet in the same way. Kirk was the same. I mean, i'd take Rodgers as a 15M option to start the year if JJ wasn't ready, but he's gonna want to be handed the starter's job, and 30-35M. Forget about it.

Given the QBs left on the market, I would like the Vikes to pursue Minshew for a veteran backup. He's decent enough to keep the team afloat if they need him to start for a few games, for whatever reason.

The rest in FA do not excite me, at all.

Minshew signed with the Chiefs last week.

Comp pick formula would be my guess.

Maybe theres something else in the works in terms of a trade or cut theyre trying to get done.
Might even have a handshake agreement with a QB already that we won't hear about until after the draft so it doesn't affect the comp pick formula

Only thing i can think of.

Alec Lewis said its very much a thing theyre keeping in the back of their minds.

Kwesi, Did confirm today they haved talked Rodgers and still didnt 100% rule it out.

I don't consider this a big deal. I assumed all along there were discussions, but that they wouldn't lead anywhere. And I don't find Kwesi's statement all that earth shattering....he even said it himself that it's not smart to close the door on anything. What if JJ gets hurt in training camp? If so, it would make sense to leave open the possibility that Rodgers could be signed then.

If JJ is healthy and doesn't crap the bed in OTAs and training camp, it's his job. Some people are making too much of this.
