OT: Non-Hockey Sports Thread XII - Time for a new QB! (Percy Harvin Edition)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Signing Rodgers would cause the Vikings to revert to their old standby of picking up QB's when they are way past their prime. We did it with Cunningham, Moon, Favre, McNabb, etc. I want to try to get a franchise QB that will be with the team for the next 10 years. If it doesn't work out, I'm fine with it, but bringing in rodgers would be a mistake, IMO.

Don't forget Jeff George, Gus Frerotte and Jim McMahon

Barf. Oh well, if he looks bad early on they can bench him and put JJ in. Would rather pay another backup 10M, and use the 25M to further beef up the roster. Rodgers WAS a great QB... he isn't now. Just an overopinionated, aged athlete with a big ego. Yuck.

Explain this statement using statistics.

Strong disagree.
Just to be clear, you think his talent outweighs his baggage, correct?
Or are you saying that he doesn't come with baggage?

I'll explain why I think his baggage surpasses what talent he has left. He's a "Me First" player. He needed his WRs, Coaches to come with him even though they were mediocre at best. He didn't participate in OTAs because he's better than them. If you want to gel with your teammates, you need to be around them. Practicing with them.

He's more interested in going on podcasts and promoting his wild conspiracy theories. The Jets, supposedly, gave him an ultimatum regarding so.

I'm saying he is a vastly superior quarterback compared to JJ McCarthy for this upcoming season.

Rodgers' baggage doesn't bother me much. He isn't going to be pulling coaches or players in with him in Minnesota. He was at OTAs last year for the jets. And you know what, being around Aaron Jones again would be good for Rodgers. It's good to have a solid dude you can trust and is already built into the system.

Nobody should care if he goes on a podcast. If you're getting bent out of shape about it, you can feel free to join me in not listening to the podcast. :)
