It's weird to me that they go by the torso, rather than the first body part. The foot often precedes the rest of the body.

I have found myself getting moved by the Ukrainian team's showings, and behavior. The way they put things in perspective by saying that those staying at home and giving up their lives for them are the heroes, not them, is refreshingly sane in a world that seems to want to deify and commercialize athletes.

The torso and not the foot is the opposite of what we've looked at for offsides in hockey. It's why it seems strange to me.

The leadup times to the events seem to take a really long time this year. It's almost like watching a pro wrestling intro. Maybe it's better that there is the foreplay for the 3 pump chump events?

Used to be less lead up but then 8 false starts to make things take a LOT longer. Zero tolerance with false starts opened up time for tv hype.

I'm on the fence with the 0 tolerance false start. I'd like it to be 1, but the unlimited (or whatever) it used to be was way too many.

The problem was, everyone WAS getting 1, which was the problem. It was a different runner each time on those false starts

Duplantis is the Sergey Bubka (watched film on him when I was doing it in high school) of this generation for pole vaulting.

I've been watching some youtube vids on Duplantis' vaults, What he does is just amazing.
Duplantis first jump in the final just now, the bar was at 5.70, he jumped 6.03

I wonder how many heights he'll skip? 6.03 is the Olympic record.

That was a failed attempt before his crotch hit the bar. He had the height to clear the bar, but not the drive and stalled out.

It makes for a great meme though,
His next jump was at 5.85. Clearly 6.09 on that one.
His world record is 6.24, and he looks so sharp today. Maybe...

I think it would be:
1. Get Gold
2. Set height for new Olympic Record (if Gold doesn't break the old one).
3. Set height for new World Record.

Medal trio is Sweden, USA and Greece.
Duplantis made 6.00 look easy. What a guy.

First attempt failed. He was close, hit the bar with his right knee.

Second attempt not as close. He's got the height, but too close to the bar on the way up.

Everyone else is finished, he's the only athlete still in competition.
The whole arena has stayed, nobody wants to go home.

Why do the packers and vikings have to play at the same time tomorrow… that’s frustrating. I wanted to see how JJ McCarthy does. Maybe it’ll line up perfectly with the packers taking Love out so I can switch the channels.

ehh... it's the preseason. Even if Love and JJ look bad, it will mean nothing.

Brazil olympic beach volley champions. I thought Team USA were the best ladies? ;)
Oh well.
Looking forward to the men's final tomorrow, Team Sweden vs Germany!

I finally saw a picture of the Nuss/Kloth team and you were right! My god, they look like a mother/daughter team. I would have cheered like hell for them.

They were coming in, then started making mistakes. Oh well, it happens. That's why they play the games.
