Very enviable position despite not having a title yet. Only the teams with a title have had something better to cheer for.Still not bad at all considering our QB history.

I never really understood celebrating championships when you (the fan) wasnt alive to witness them.Very enviable position despite not having a title yet. Only the teams with a title have had something better to cheer for.
Teams behind us with a title in my lifetime...I never really understood celebrating championships when you (the fan) wasnt alive to witness them.
Like if the Vikings would of won one before I was born I truthfully could care less about it and would only care if my team won one when I was alive.
Just my weird little shtick I guess.
Let's not forget about the original rockstar team, with Starr, Hornung, Kramer, Nietske,etc.. Those SB's count, too.If Green Bay had any semblance of a defense for Rodgers' tenure, they would have won at least 2 or 3. But management spent so long ignoring free agents and instead trying to draft and develop every position.
Well it's about building history I guess.I never really understood celebrating championships when you (the fan) wasnt alive to witness them.

I dunnno. I guess im not over here celebrating the 5 championships the Minneapolis Lakers won while they were still in MN. Maybe thats different because the team moved. Dunno like i said its probably my weird little shtick.Well it's about building history I guess.
I did get to live through both Twins' titles, albeit pretty young in 87. But I do cherish them.
I would like for the Vikes' to have won one title back in the '70s but wasn't meant to be I guess.
When you get right down to it, all pro sports are kinda stupid. I mean, does it really change how healthy your family are if the Wild win two Cups?I dunnno. I do agree with this. Us fans kinda over blow how important they are. Would i like to see the Vikings, Wild, or Kraken win the SB or the Cup in my lifetime? Of course. But im not going to be on my death bed thinking about if they dont win it lol Winning is great for local business and during their championship run though. When you get right down to it, all pro sports are kinda stupid. I cared about winning so much more when I was younger. Now, all I pretty much want is an entertaining playoff-caliber team. I'll take my chances from there.I do agree with this. Winning a title would still be nice though.I cared about winning so much more when I was younger. Now, all I pretty much want is an entertaining playoff-caliber team. I'll take my chances from there.
The perspective of the sports fan is interesting once you start considering fandom in the light of other things. It becomes clear that sports are like art, only enjoyable when things are going reasonably well in the world around you. When you get right down to it, all pro sports are kinda stupid. College sports and honestly even high school sports mean more. They're more about family and community.

But since things are going reasonably well in the world around me, TaLon is right, it would be nice to watch the Wild win a championship.
That's why I enjoy watching even when the team I'm cheering for is doing poorly. You are still usually seeing someone play the sport well, which I still find to be a treat.Yes. And when I lost my dad a few years back my perspective on all these matters really changed.
I agree about the art part - sports, and sports played well, is art to me.

It's just those really brutal games like the Vikes/Raiders this past Sunday. Such TERRIBLE QB play by both teams 95% of the way. The Vikes D was good, but it seemed to come too easy because of the poor play of the Raiders offense. The Vikes offense was just self inflicted disfunction through and through. That's why Mullens was able to come in, drive to a score... game over.
My condolences. My dad was a big Vikings fan, and died about a decade ago. I still think of him when I see them play. I hope you get to keep your fond memories of your dad close.Yes. And when I lost my dad a few years back my perspective on all these matters really changed.

He was a Vikes' fan but hockey was his true love. Wild season ticket holder. Went to many games with him. And all around MN sports fan.My condolences.
