Who was KD supposed to pick up last summer? Rebuilds take time and, for better or worse, the Hawks landed their center piece a few years early.

100% Davidson and Grier are worlds apart in terms of understanding how to construct and build a team around a future franchise piece.

Again, who was KD supposed to pick up in the offseason to suddenly turn this franchise into a playoff team?

MacKinnon was not special but was +13 in his first two seasons. Jack Hughes was -29, despite playing on a terrible team.

Bedard is a conbined -68, and he still has more than 1/3 season to fail even more.

I don't think there was any "generational" player coming to the league in recent years, put up nice numbers, and yet finish -44 in a single season.

To be fair his teams absolute garbage.

There are only a handful of players in NHL history that'd be legitimately scary by themselves on the current Hawks roster, tbqh.

Sure but pre-draft there was strong speculation that Bedard might be one of those players.
