Mackinnon was on a playoff team his first year

He had O’Reilly, Duchene, Landeskog on that team along with a competent coach in Roy

You can’t compare that to the absolute garbage Bedard has played with. Last years Hawks team was literally it’s worth version since the 50s
MacKinnon was also on a team who finished dead last with 48 points, 21 points behind the next team, in his first few seasons, he was only -14. That team was a disaster.

So a small, slow weak player with no supporting cast at 19 is gonna push 75 points….

By that logic, you should be afraid once he gets grown man strength. Most of these issues people are picking apart were the same criticisms a young Kane had. He only became the Greatest American player ever.

If we were comparing Bedard to Hughes at the same age, not a single person would say Hughes has a better shot even though he’s a far superior skater. I have little doubt he’s gonna be a superior player to Jack Hughes. MacKinnons peak is pretty absurd. It’s hard to compare to that. How many guys ever scored 140 plus points. It’s not a long list. Most in the 80s.
I already said he's going to be an elite player. And yes people said the same about Kane and that's a good comparable for him. Not long ago people were offended if anyone said he's going to be more of a Kane and not the next generational player.

Was just pointing out that MacKinnon and Hughes (MacKinnon especially) had certain physical gifts they needed to grow into, so they likely had a different development path than Bedard will.

he's not wrong

bedard will have a solid career but he's never going to be the "next one." celebrini is already better

Can't help but going

I think he will be just fine and a top 10 forward for many many years. He will improve with Chicago. They come out of this together as an elite combo in about 3 or 4 years.

He's going to be a superstar. People in this thread will look silly soon.

Kid is 19 for god sake and he's almost PPG on one of the worst team in recent memory.

Are you afraid of him the way you’re afraid of Mackinnon and Mcdavid? No. He doesn’t have the same physical tools to completely take over a game by himself. That’s perfectly fine though. I have a feeling that a few years from now we’ll be talking about him the way Kane was talked about 5 years ago and the way Kucherov is now

He’s 19. I don’t get the negativity.

He was hyped as the next McDavid, or Crosby.

Both of those guys won't the Hart and Art Ross in their second season.

Bedard is literally light years behind their trajectory. Scoring is higher than its been in 25 years, and yet he's not even managed to be a point per game player which is what you'd expect out of any top line forward, let alone a guy hyped as "the next Crosby/McDavid".

I mean for comparison sake, McDavid had the 3rd highest ppg as a Rookie. What was Bedard's rank as a rookie? Like 100th?

Bedard is going to be a really good player, can easily become a top 10 player.

But he isn't the next Crosby/McDavid and I don't think he'll get to the Mack's heights either. Most likely he'll be similar to Hughes in his prime, which is nothing to sneeze at.

He's more than 100% correct. I still remember being terrified every time MacKinnon touched the puck his rookie season, felt like he could make something happen at any time. Don't have that at all with Bedard.
I'm sure that Mack "looked " better as he has blazing speed but does anyone thinks he would have had a better impact on the Balck Hawks last year than Bedard did?

Go back and look at the Avs roster in Mack's rookie year, a much better environment to thrive in.

There were threads and 2/3 people voted Bedard was more likely a Kane level prospect. More scouts polled said so too.

And i constantly see people's reactions like this... is it that gard to distinguish vocal minorities and not be bothered by them to where you treat that as the norm?

Not really a twig. He is lean and pretty cut but lacks Girth. He’s also sub 5’10 per thr combine. Just how he is. Can add a bit of weight over time but defending a smaller guy like him who doesn’t possess great wheels is easier than defending against McDavid or MacKinnon.
Packing on more muscle would definitely help.

The fact this kid has the arrogance to call out his team and whine about losing when he plays like he does. That tells me he's been far to used to being to pedestal and can't cope with having to work for something. I've only seen a few of his games but he was barely noticeable.

He's not a great all-around player and may never be. He might not even be a center long term. He is however producing offensively on a talented challenged Hawks team while being in the crosshairs of the opposition. I see a Brayden Point when it's all said and done, and I stand by that.

mackinnon was trash for years before breaking out
