Boqvist + 12OA +6OA (wasn't known at the time) + a second.

Beck + 16 OA + Habs 1st 2026 + Mailloux or choice of defencemen. You can remove the defencemen for a 2nd if that is more on par with the original Jones return. I'd even do Hage instead of Beck. But I am adding less to Hage then Beck.

That's insane, 3 ~16th overall picks for Dobson isn't gonna happen. Hamilton literally went for the 14th Overall pick. Hamilton is probably the closest player comparable to Dobson.

Assuming you mean Dougie Hamilton here, we may need to have a conversation about the meaning of the word "literally". Hamilton was actually "literally" traded for the 15th pick, not the fourteenth. He was also "literally" traded for two additional second round picks.

Boston also "literally" couldn't afford to sign him, which is the reason Hamilton was traded. That situation was closer to the one around the Toews deal than this. Nothing is forcing the Islanders' hand here. Dobson also "literally" has a stronger track record than Hamilton did at the time of the trade.

So yeah those situations apples and oranges, and while they're both literally fruits it doesn't mean it makes sense to compare them 1:1

Didn't think a word would trigger you to this extent lol. What does Boston not having cap space have to do anything? They could have traded someone else. The return is the return, Hamilton didn't ask for a trade or would only accept a trade to Calgary. Him being more proven than Hamilton at the time doesn't mean he's worth 3x as much lol. If he gets traded it's gonna be 15th + B prospect + 2nd. The prospect won't be a recent top 10 pick.

the word you are looking for is leverage. There is zero chance the isles would entertain a shitty offer like that. 6’4 right shot defenseman that is a plus skater, very good at moving the puck up the ice, and has multiple 50+ point seasons including a 70 point season last year and is only 25 don’t grow on trees. The entire defense looks like shit in Roy’s system. Dobson will be a a highly sought after commodity if he is on the trade block. A mediocre return like that will be laughed at.

You’re still not even acknowledging the two seconds lolol

You can play down Boston’s cap situation if you want, but they were in a tight spot and other GMs knew it so they were getting a weak deal no matter who they traded.

You’re also missing the main point - a trade like that is not worth it for the Isles so he wouldn’t be traded. They’re getting at least an A prospect + first + and members of your fanbase seem to both agree and be down for that
