I think the Oilers are going to trade for a RHD at some point. A great player like Noah Dobson from NYI would certainly fit the bill.

The question is do they have enough futures to entice Lou Lamoriello to make a deal?

No. Dobson isn’t available. You can have Mayfield for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

You can have Pulock for a 1st + Sam O’rielly

Pulock would be a great add but we'd need to send serious cap back for that to work. It also wouldn't be anyone Lou would want (see: Kane, Evander).

Sam O'Rielly is off the table just because of the need for a RHC in EDM. would Savoie or Akey have interest on the Island?

Mayfield for a 2nd would be fine.

The Oilers don't need a big ticket, sexy name, just a solid no.4/5 D. We can't even afford another big contract, Bouchard needs a big extension as is.

Isn't Dobson kind of a shit defender who's due the same sort of raise that Bouchard is about to get?

I don't think the Oilers are targeting a defenseman that's going to blow the doors off. They just don't have the long-term cap flexibility to do that. They need a guy that can contribute alternating back and forth between a 4/5 role. A good puck retriever with decent first pass.

I don’t see the Isles being in position to deal Dobson for futures. They can’t possibly sell everything they have off. They will retool by selling Palmeri, Nelson, JGP, Lee, and one of their veteran D.

Makes sense.

I don't think the Isles have that type of defensemen either.

:(

I wouldn't be opposed to you guys sending Romanov our way.

It will be interesting to see what he gets as an RFA. It's Sweet Lou so I'm guessing 8y/5.5per

Enjoyable player who is entering his prime but I have no idea what he should get. He's a definite solid 4 so I guess whatever is par per year for his kind.

For me yes. I think I’d prefer Savoie.

Akey reminds me of Fabbro in that I think it may take him a while to find his footing if he ever becomes an NHL defensman.

Teddy Peckman is off limits. He's the heart and soul of his intramural team.
What if we said Scott Mayfield and 2 dozen orange and blue bagels? I actually know Teddy Peckman personally but haven’t seen him in years.

Nah, we need a guy with some decent offensive chops. I don't mind Pulock, but Nurse is playing good hockey right now but he's usually played his best with a puckmover.

Yeah. I just don't really understand why Edmonton would target a guy like Dobson, when they already have Bouchard. They also just don't have the pieces to make that kind of deal. But even if they did, it's not somebody they could afford to keep.
