Dobson is also an RHD and scores more than Sergachev did on an offensively anemic team. Better chance he goes for more than Sergachev than less I think.
I'm not sure what the Islanders would move Dobson for given their management and place in the standings. I'd want the Sharks to be interested but I don't know if they have the pieces the Isles would be looking for here. I think bare minimum on a new Dobson contract is probably 10 mil.

What about ANA?

Different conference, loads of young offensive/scoring skills, and no clear/proven #1 D (IMO). Seems like an ideal fit. It'll be difficult to find 1-to-1 value in a trade w/ any team, but maybe something involving Zegras? Not a NYI/ANA fan so I won't speak to who's adding, etc. etc.
I'd consider something around McTavish +/- some other assets going either way to make it work .

Aside from any financial reasons, Dobson also may not wanna waste his prime years on a middle of the road team.

Likewise, the Isles may not want to allocate a large percentage of their cap space to a defenseman who can score and create offense, but is equally likely to generate opportunities for the opposing team. Which is one of the many reasons why they are a middle of the road team.

So you wouldn't want your kids to try to make the best money that they possibly could?

Father of the year over here...
If I had kids, I would want them to do as well as they could at a job they enjoyed doing. I've known several people over the years who have left higher paying careers for lower paying ones that they enjoyed more and found more satisfying.

Teach them to maximize their potential and not be taken advantage of? Or to stand up for what is right?

Yeah, that’s exactly what they should be taught.
