Moldaver represents McDavid and Matthews. Dobson is looking to get paid apparently, and a Matthews-style 4 year deal that walks him to FA after the cap has gone up seems like the furthest thing from what Lou likes to do. Maybe we see some fireworks soon?

Someone will pay him, not sure he is gonna live up to the number he gets. Great player but from everything I've seen he seems to want to be the top paid dman in the league, or at least close to it.

I think he gets traded. I mean he already took a discount on his last deal. Clearly he is not happy with where this current negotiation is going . Also Lou likes to really haggle with players.

I also agree that Dobson will not have good numbers on this NYI team…they can’t score consistently…

Dobson has great upside. Could definitely be a 1st pairing defenseman capable of being a PPG defenseman and PP specialist.

The question is if he'll reach that potential as he's had a very bad season. He's going to want to be paid for his upside when he hasn't proved he can be at that level consistently. And with him being a UFA in 2028 you can't give him a bridge deal as you want to buy as many of his UFA years as possible.

Meanwhile Lou is probably about to resign 33 year old Brock Nelson and 34 year old Kyle Palmieri. Here he should be focusing on drafting/acquiring young top talent, and yet he cannot help making the Islanders old and more average year after year.

If Dobson winds up getting traded I just hope Lou is "waived" by the Islanders first. That way at least a new GM was the person that traded Dobson, because Lou cannot be trusted to do anything right now.

Well that make sense since he's a 1st pairing defenceman.

Not sure if this is literal or an exaggeration, but in the case of the latter, not sure Dobson is worth $11.5M even with the cap pump coming.

Getting him at a high cap hit while depleting asssts and hoping he can at least produce offensively for what he's worth is a big gamble and I say good luck to your team.

Gotta think he's looking at comps and the cap going up and realistically thinks he should get in the 10.5-11.5 range. Obviously, Islanders aren't comfortable with that, will be intersting to see how it plays out.

I'm surprised to find McDavid has the same agent. He took a discount on his deal, could take another one. Then you have the polar opposite in Matthews who accepts only the most predatory deals that hurt his team. Dobson taking this agency, it's hard to tell what he is going for here. With human nature, likely most money.

So it seems like while that guy is one of his two agents, the lead agent is someone else who has much smaller clients... Lafreniere probably being the most notable.

If I'm Chicago, I'm going hard at both Dobson and Brock Nelson.

What could they add to Seth Jones at $7.5m?

Can't blame him for wanting a trade.

Playing on such an offensively deficient team could cost him tens of millions of dollars in his prime years if he stays on the Islanders.

Do people watch games and/or look at stats? Last year Dobson scored 70 points in 79 games - This on one of the bottom scoring teams in the league.

I think the entire NHL knows what he could be (and what he should be paid accordingly).

Legit LOL.
