Value of: Noah Dobson, based on Sergachev Trade

I think it depends on what NYI's outlook is with Darche. Are they trying to get back in the playoffs or do a 2-3 year rebuild? Are they shopping Dobson because Dobson wants out, or that they aren't willing or able to pay him what he wants? Hard to tell as someone who doesn't follow NYI. And even then, there are a handful of teams that have room for Dobson too, but would he sign in those cities? Is he chasing a bag, willing to play for a team on the rise like Anaheim or my Blues or is he wanting a cup sooner rather than later?

As a Blues fan I'd hope a Bolduc + first + B prospect/roster salary dump package would be enough if Dobson forces Darche's hand (as others said, think of all the hullabaloo about Zegras...and then what he went for), but I may be in a minority where I would live with Kyrou for an extended Dobson. It creates new roster issues to handle for the Blues, but guys like Dobson simply don't end up on the trading block very often and I think he and Broberg would be an incredible d-pairing for the next decade.
nice feedback but the value isn't there for Dobson. Your pick is #19 in a very weak draft. Bolduc is your 3rd best RW behind Snuggerud and Kyrou. Isles most likely are going to sign him. He fits either plan (trying to win now or a 2 year rebuild). So for us to trade our #1 RD dman in his prime (25), it would have to be for a guy like Snuggerud in my opinion.

Makes sense, and honestly I would move Snuggy for Dobson if I was Army...but the underlying question I have you mentioned in your post: Dobson is a damn good player. Any GM, especially a new one, would only shop a guy like Dobson at all if he refused to negotiate and was going to walk...so unless that's the situation, it may all be moot.

I think Kyrou for Dobson makes some sense.

As Miscs said, we don’t need an RHD back, esp if ASP is in the deal.

That being said, I know he’s dynamic but the smolness scares me. What about 13, ASP, Danielson?

The 9th overall in 2023, 13th overall in 2025, and 17th overall in 2023. 3 1st round picks, basically. That’s insane. What player in the last 10 years has cost that much in a trade?

Chychrun was moved for a 1st (12th), and two 2nd round picks. Dobson is probably valued higher, but he also needs to be re-signed at a premium while Chychrun was still on a very good value contract for 2 more years at that point.

Snuggerud is a better fit timeline wise.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Blues would prefer to move out the bigger contract (Kyrou).

After potentially signing Dobson (8-9 million?), STL wants to add another forward and still need to resign Hofer. The season after that Broberg, Holloway, Bolduc (and Fowler?) need new contracts. The cap is going up, and moving guys like Leddy/Faulk will definitely help, if possible, (also Krug on LTIR) but capspace still might be tight if we have bóth Dobson and Kyrou on the roster. Hence why STL might not prefer to move the much cheaper (albeit less proven) Snuggerud.
