Team has won 3 of their last 4 games.

Sam Carrick has had a good week or two.

Cool seeing Kieffer Bellows on Nashville. His dad was a heck of a scorer. Anyone remember Brian Bellows? He was on my amateur hockey mag when I was in hockey camp so I always watched his career.
Yup. North Stars legend

I wonder if playing Jones on the pp1 last game like he should have would have made a difference in basically a tie game? At least He didn't take too long to do the right thing and put Jones on pp1
If the Rangers want to stay in the playoff race no way they can trade Jones especially for some paltry return

Rempe probably has his own dedicated person at the DoPS monitoring his play, so I’m sure Rangers Twitter talking about it won’t matter.

The reality of things is that his next suspension is coming, just a matter of when

Come on man. You're one of the most logical posters on this board. You don't realize that players have different time frames?
Why is the time frame a prerequisite on having an opinion?

He doesn't skate well and he doesn't really do anything else spectacular.

I see the ceiling being Lafreniere -- a solid even strength goal scorer, although (cover your ears remaining defenders!) Lafreniere low-key kinda plays a lot, so he should score some.

Is that the end of the world?

Yup, 20th for Berard and 6th for Othmann

The team needs to develop cheap middle of the lineup players so they can pay their stars. JT, Mika, K’Andre have played up to their level since the new year. Hopefully the Panarin line is turning it around.

There’s room for more moves this week. Both in the selling and buying category. Drury is doing well so far. I respect Reilly goes tomorrow and then the Isles and Caps games will show us a lot. Exciting week.

The only thing that's ever the end of the world is when Igor gives up a goal.

I think that pairing is pretty strong for a second pairing. They're not a top pairing but I don't think anyone thinks either is a top pairing guy anymore. Maybe Miller playing with Fox or whatever. We moved in the right direction getting rid of the dead weight in Trouba and Lindgren. I feel like we're one solid top 4 D-man away from having a solid D when Fox is back. Mika playing on the wing looks like a player you can win with. Panarin will probably never be a 120 point player but he can still contribute. Despite what people think this team is not so far away from being a good team. Last year we won the Presidents' Trophy with Bonino as our 3rd line center most of the year and no JT Miller. As much as this year has been the perfect storm of shit, last year was the positive perfect storm. I think next year we're comfortably in a playoff spot and record-wise somewhere between this year and last.
You aren't wrong that they aren't far away from a "good team". But i think maybe conflating good team with a good points team in the regular season might be going on.

This team should easily be in playoff position, even this year. A disaster and a failure so far. But they are too slow to be a real contender. More changes are needed, big ones. What we are with a small change still isn't good enough

Both guys leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully one of them gets packaged in a deal that brings back someone who actually makes an impact nightly.

Othmann was more realistically projected as a 20-20 guy with some sandpaper as we had all discussed so this isn’t terribly groundbreaking unless you are one of the very select few who saw him as maybe an impact player

I don't think theres a prerequisite timeframe - but less time is less data. It takes players time to settle in at the NHL level. An early read is fine, it's just less likely to be right compared to an opinion after a longer period of time.

The Panthers are not a particularly fast team. The Lightning weren't either.

I purposely didn't say we're close to being a contender because that's going to start an argument. But reading the takes on the Rangers here and on other boards this down season is treated as if it's 10 seasons of terrible play. We're not Buffalo or the Oilers of 10 years ago. I just don't understand why the Rangers are treated as a bottom feeder. They're not even a bottom feeder this year. They are a bubble team that has probably a 30% chance of making the playoffs. Not what we wanted and not particularly good but I don't know why we're being treated like San Jose. f***ing Avs fans yesterday legit called the Rangers a horrible team and meanwhile the Avs are a middle of the pack playoff team that is unlikely to be anything more than they've been outside of 2022. But I digress.

Hey! I should go bush more often.

On the way home and I streamed the game audio once we were back in cell range and I’m hearing de Haan’s name and thinking “WTF”?

Sad to see Jimmy leave but Lindgren? Not so much.

You gotta have 18 guys out there and some of them are just gonna be there. Othmann will definitely be one of those guys at least.

I see Berard being an actual difference maker.

I feel like Berard can be a more offensive Fast which is a very valuable player. I don't know what Othmann brings to the table yet. But I just think it's easy to underestimate how difficult the transition is. People that start a new office job don't know where the bathroom is in the building for the first week and we are expecting a player who is not a phenom to just jump in and not be lost right away?

See that's the thing I think Berard can be a 4th liner or even a decent middle 6 guy. I honestly still don't know what Othmann is. He is physical I guess.
Thats why I think othmann is expendable. I dont see where he fits in.

Like 3rd line wingers long term cuylle and berard I LOVE.

Love edstrom and rempe has 4th line wingers.

Top 6 wingers panarin, laff, mika, perreault. (Yes i dont mention kreider)

I dont see where othmann break the lineup. Gotta move him while he still has some value
