Sport is not a national thing, it's an universal thing.

Having nations compete against each other is outdated. We should have a fantasy draft in Olympics and have 12 teams choose their players, no more national ********.

You should only have to change the last 150 years of international sporting competition, shouldn't be too difficult.

So then its a competition between the scouting teams to pick the best players, who are entirely unaffiliated with their 'countries'.

I think this is a good idea. Might I suggest that we do this with a larger number of teams though so we give every worthy player a decent shot... maybe 30 teams. We should have them play an extender preliminary round for the purposes of seeding. Something in the ballpark of 82. Then is the knockout round. I hate single elimination though, so maybe the teams will play a series. Best of seven sounds like a nice number, in theory anyway.

This sounds like a great idea, we could even put them on an ice surface that is smaller, produces a quicker game with more hitting and scoring than the international ice surface.

National team games are the best and most exciting part of part of hockey, they actually have some emotion, unlike club games most of the time.. so no way I would be bored to it.

I think both you and Jack are on to something here...now all we need are 30 entrepreneurs to invest heavily and I have no doubts this venture could generate multi- billions annually in revenue.

You'd have to pay all the players a crapton of moolah though, to make them willing to participate in this thing. Because honestly, it sounds like proper madness.
