No charges over Adam Johnson death

There are more instances when Petgrave kicked his skates up
Are you suggesting the crown didn’t view those (and other) videos as part of their many months of investigation? A couple have been posted here (one from when Petgrave was in junior and one from two different players in the nhl) and both are exculpatory.

Bro I'm literally dead at people referring to that old grainy video.

Dude is literally driving toward the net at 100mph, gets bowled over and goes flying through the air. If you seriously think he has control of his body AND simultaneously is thinking "get your skates up in the air" in the 0.4 seconds he is flying through the air. Have you ever been hit while skating as fast as you can?

I think some of us are at a point where we have to believe that Petgrave did it on purpose or else more needs to be done to reconcile with the fact that this could have happened (NSFW) before and might happen (NSFW) again.

Because it was this bad, people have started to convince themselves that any athlete is capable of full control at all times. It had to be something besides maybe a shitty sports decision and astronomically bad luck, but even that probably shouldn't get you manslaughter and a sentence like that's "justice".

It's kind of wild and hard to reconcile with for me personally.
OR Petgrave was a dirty POS who has a history of being dirty and using his skates as quasi weapons.

People want to treat him like he's some Lady Byng winner or some random player, they are the ones that want to convince themselves "maybe if I just ignore his history of being a dirtbag, it'll do something."

- this was not an intentional act of murder
- this was a deliberate reckless act resulting in death
- the burden of proof is too high to ensure a conviction, thus charges will not be brought
- True
- Absolutely not. It was two guys clipping skates that caused the movement that happened afterwards.
- In one way yes, but in another there is nothing to prove. The video evidence show that it was an unintentional accident.

Clipping a skate doesn't throw your skate in the air at someone's neck. Nobody can find another incident like this in any hockey league except for another Petgrave incident.

He absolutely did.
Actually funny enough, if it was a roundhouse kick they would have more of a leg to stand on as that would show he spun around and actually did get knocked off balance.
It was a straight jump kick..off the back right foot with the leading left leg extending the skate into the neck. Petgrave's back facing camera whole time.

Here is another reckless play. Not similar to Petgrave but had he connected to the guys throat and killed him he also should have been charged with involuntary manslaughter

Don't bother, logic and reasoning goes out the window in place of evasion and attempts at insults and gaslighting with this crowd.

I remember watching the video of Petgrave killing Johnson at the time. Went in expecting a terrible freak accident....and instead seeing the most reckless, disgusting hockey "play" in my life. I just watched it again for the first time in years. Still just as horrific and unacceptable.

I love this place. Hard playoff hits are treated and whined about as if manslaughter. All Sexual Assault claims are instantly enough to 100% convict any player immediately, no evidence or trial needed. But actually karate kicking a player in the neck on video and killing him is okay. 🤡

Again, the video should be posted in the OP. Along with all of Petgrave's other dumbass plays throughout his trash career. Guy is a scumbag.
It's rich that you get upset about the bolded stuff (which has nothing to do with the court of law)...but when an investigation into something is actually done, and they decide not to press charges, you're upset about that too. Tell me, which is it that you would like?

It is really hard to prove intent in a fast sport like hockey and I wouldn't want to accuse a player of purposely trying to hit someone with their skate so I am not surprised there are no charges, but the play looks off to me and it looks like there was intent to make some type of contact with the player. I think it was a reckless play personally but hockey is an extremely fast sport and there will always be risks. It is tough to set a legal standard in a sport like hockey that allows hitting and fighting.
