I think Benny and Dahlin would have rushed Noesen, especially since in the first period Dahlin had already thrown Noesen onto the ice after that episode when Dahlin got hit in the head.

Ruff... need gone, win? Why?
 
If Lindy doesn't have the fire, so be it. But can we get at least one person on the coaching staff who does?

Appert always struck me as the 'cool dad' type of guy, and Marty Wilford may be mute. Give me 1 emotionally unstable assistant at least

Just watched the Thompson hit replay. Kulich saw everything and half heartedly skated up to Noesen after the whistle. Zucks didn't see it but did nothing when it was obvious what happened. Samuelsson saw it and just stood there with his dick in his hand. Power entered the picture soon after and just stood there with -- shocker -- his dick in his hand. I mean, I think that was his dick, because apparently the balls were missing.

The entire team saw what happened and spent the next 10 minutes with their collective dicks in their collective hands.

Lindy Ruff saw it and stood there with, oddly, Apperts dick in his.......

I'm good with Kulich not getting his faced punched in by Noesen. I'm most pissed off about Samuelsson by far and away.

Why do we even have this damn staff? Appert sucks and his PP sucks, Wilford sucks, is Ellis still out there somewhere? Ruff needed to retire and we needed another coach.

18 years ago in February, with the Sabres leading the Ottawa Senators by one goal halfway through the 2nd, Chris Neil elbowed an unsuspecting Chris Drury in the head, dropping him to the ice in a pool of his own blood.

Lindy Ruff responded by having Adam Mair pound Jason Spezza in the face the very next shift.

But today?

f*** Ruff, f*** his assistants, f*** this roster, f*** the GM, and especially f*** this owner. I've reached a breaking point with this team.

Even Drew Stafford took a few punches to the face after stepping up to Neil after the Drury hit.

It's a culture thing. It's what separates winning teams from abject, perennial losers.

Do you want the real answer?

So when their contracts run out (not Appert) this offseason they can try to sell Lindy bringing in a new assistant or two as the big change next year.

I saw some reports before the draft about Charlie Coyle, it's probably close, people were doubting IQ Cozens and it turned out to be true.

In the aftermath of all of this, there’s the first period incident, then there’s what happened with Zucker in front of the net and them jawing with one another, and then there’s this. It’s pretty clear that Noesem was trying to do something because he was angry. And he did something incredibly dirty.

Back to the bigger problem at hand, the ass servant of shrugging your shoulders bullshit from the guys on the bench. The only mild response was Samuelson throwing the first hit I think I’ve seen him throw in two months later in the period. That was it.

Reminds me of the Tampa game where different players are taking cheap shots at Rasmus and nothing happened. Eventually, you don’t wanna be around teammates like that. You don’t wanna play with them and you don’t wanna stand up for them. I’m disappointed by everybody who was on the ice andthat includes Jiri. I’m disappointed by everybody on the bench because nobody did anything. Take a run at somebody, do something to show that you have a pulse, but you’re not a coward. The total lack of response, no life, no anger, just unacceptable. Absolutely f***ing unacceptable.

I don't even care that much about sending a message that we won't be pushed around. The message to your teammates is a bigger deal. You mentioned no ownership before, and there's no pride as well. Its corny but successful groups in any venue often have the feeling of being part of something greater than oneself. This is just a collection of people who happen to be in the same space.

Precisely. And I would say the management never getting any help and the ownership clearly not getting them any help only adds to this.

Yeah. I've cheered for losers and underdogs most of my life, but this group is getting to be too much.

Did he mean after the final whistle?

When prodded by a reporter about Noesen being ejected and thus unavailable for retaliation, Ruffs curt response was "Pick another guy. Pick any guy."

So was there a green light to do something or not? It's a little confusing. But reading between the lines, my guess is the guys who were chirping for revenge had a green light to do something, especially after the final whistle, but chose to do nothing,

Nobody wants to go to war with a bunch of guys who will abandon you as soon as the enemy appears on the horizon. It's why we're in last place. The intangibles of a player required to build a great team with a backbone don't appear on no chart, they're not evident on a page of statistics. This GM has zero eye for that kind of hockey player.

Samuelsson is so big. Even if he doesn't want to fight, he could just grab the dude and throw him down to the ice. Maybe throw a couple glove-on punches on the way down. It would be no problem for someone Sammy's size. We have the biggest collection of gentle giants in the league, who apparently ask the coach for permission to retaliate to one of your assistant captains getting his head taken off. Pathetic!
