To Van:

2022 first round pick (unprotected)
Pavel Zacha
Ty Smith
Mackenzie Blackwood

To NJ:

Thatcher Demko
Conor Garland
Nils Hoglander

NJ gets their Franchise goalie to go along with J.Hughes/Hischier/L.Hughes as a core. Garland and Hoglander bring good 5v5 play and grit to the forward group. Vancouver gets to restock its prospect pool with a top 10 pick and Smith. Zacha would be a good fit at 3C behind Pettersson/Horvat. Blackwood under Ian Clark can become a solid starter.

I wouldn't want to make my team worse by 3 players only to add a potential top 10 pick. Too risky and too difficult to replace the pieces lost. The value is most definitely not there to entice the Canucks to make this deal.

No reason to move Demko or Hoglander, not enough reason to move Garland.

That pick isn't going to be as low as we need it to be, Smith is nice but is the antithesis of what we need in a defender, Zachas a useful piece but not worth any thing returning and Blackwood has not impressed me, plus we have DiPietro and now Martin who can hold the fort for us.

Canucks say no
Really, why? As a Devil’s fan completely neutral party I think this very fair exchange is terrible for the Canucks is great for both teams.

On a more serious note, I wish people stopped with the “unprotected 1sts” as some weird supercharged asset. GMs don’t want give up or pay dearly for lottery chances, the uncertainty doesn’t work great in trades like this.

I also don’t see Vancouver trading Demko, he seems untouchable to me.

Yes to all of this.
