I didn't say it was "good value for x team". I said the deal is pretty good in terms of value, meaning the value of the assets involved. For both.

Would NJ fans do Evans for Kovacevic?

I am guessing we are only moving picks and lower prospects/guys who are blocked. That limits what returns are but until this summer when we know about Kova and Dougie list July 1, I don't see Nemec being moved.
If a guy like Mercer is moved it's for a better version of him. We give up his potential to be better than player being brought in at a lower cap hit. Make the only reason a team might do it.

I asked because NJ have depth at RHD while Evans is a need for them. They could replace Kovacevic, but have no player to do what Evans do.

MTL will probably trade Savard and then they'll need a veteran RHD to replace him.
Habs brass know Kovacevic and the guy seemed to like it here in MTL, HuGo made a mistake when they traded him.
They'd probably want to know Kovacevic demands before the trade.

Evans contract negotiations have stalled, they're far apart and I have the impression HuGo don't want to lose him for nothing.

Anyway, if Kovacevic is a no go I think NJ 2nd + one of Jets/Oilers 2nd would be fair value for Evans...

He's not worth a late 1st but he's worth more than a late 2nd... and Jets/Oilers 2nd are almost 3rd rounders...
