This really is as a base. I think more goes into this trade and it probably happens in the summer if it were to happen. This trade benefits both teams.

For Buffalo, they need a top RD. Plain and simple. Nemec getting minutes here and out of the log jam in New Jersey benefits both the player and the team.

For New Jersey, what I think may be very interesting is seeing Jack Hughes on the wing during the 4 Nations Tournament. If so, Cozens in the middle of Hughes and Bratt has potential to be explosive.

I believe the Devils have to add for value and salary purposes, but I think this is a change of scenery trade that could benefit both teams greatly.

What do you all think?

Cap wise not sure it will fit for New Jersey. And not really sure if Buffalo wants a young dman considering their d core age
That’s why I say it’s a summer trade, cap goes up, Devils probably send salary to make it work and send other value as well.

They need a RD though and Nemec playing with Power or Dahlin would develop into a great pair.

...Nemec is supposedly an Offensive defenseman and Fluffabo needs defensive RD's to play with their offensive guys on LD...
Nemec is more two way as opposed to strictly a offensive defenseman.

Jack Hughes is a center.

I don't know why you would rather have Cozens in Center as opposed to Hughes. Being honest I don't think Cozens is a Center.

But this would be a "futures" deal i would kind of be ok with.

Only problem I have is waiting on Nemac to be impactful even if he is ready for NHL next season.

I'm also not sure that Cozens should be at center? I'll leave that to Buffalo fans to talk about as I don't watch enough, but I feel like I've seen a lot of people suggest that Cozens shouldn't be at center

Oh, well there you go lol.

One day the "guy doesn't win faceoffs so he should be moved to wing" bullshit will be put to rest.

Cozens is apparently playing C poorly in Buffalo. I don't get trading for him to move Hughes to wing, when Hughes is a great center.

I do get trying to get a 3rd C to add to Hughes/Hischier and upgrading Haula. I think the price to do that would be cheaper than Nemec, and Cozens is likely not that guy.

Most likely Nemec gets a call up this week, we lost a defender last night

No brainer for this Sabres fan, but I'm sure I'm in the minority. Yes, we have a lot invested in our D, but it's still our biggest weakness IMO. I continue to try to add talent there until it's good, and then I trade excess at that point, which should be easy considering just about every team is looking for D all the time. Nemec isn't a perfect fit, but I'm not sure why we would hold out for a perfect fit considering the difficulty in building a good D for the last 15 years.

I think Cozens could thrive with the Devils, but I'd also understand if they didn't want to take on his contract.

No from this Sabres fan. Cozens is too much of what they need, I'd rather see him used correctly (wing) than gone.
Quinn for Nemec could work, though. Or one of their lefty dmen (sans Dahlin, obviosly).
