Today Nintendo took down both the most prominent Switch emulator and the most prominent 3DS emulator. This certainly turns me off from wanting to support them in the future. I'll most likely pass on Switch 2 unless they come out with something really impressive.

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, the 3DS (and Wii U) e-shops are down. Emulation is pretty much the only way to experience those games without spending loads of cash.

And on the other hand, the Switch is still an active system.

Anyway, I'm sure another emulator will pop up soon.

TTYD remake out 5/23, Luigi's Mansion 2 remaster out 6/27. Game Boy Dr. Mario, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis coming to NSO Tuesday. Another Mario movie coming 4/36/26.

Really scummy behaviour from them lately.

It's ridiculous. There is such a massive nintendo library that they've just made inaccessible. I don't want to break out my 20 year old hand helds to play Shin Megami Tensei or a decent Pokemon game.

From the Indie showcase, I'm all about Cat's Quest 3. The first two games were surprisingly fun, if you can tolerate puns aplenty.

Europa looked chill as well, and my son is really into everything space-related so that big fat Jupiter in the sky got hom interested, too.

I keep seeing cat Quest on sale. Is it worth a pick up?

I'd say yes. They're manageable and fairly simple adventure games with fairly basic concept, not a lot of depth, and a tad repetitive, but the core gameplay loop is fun and I'm a sucker for the aesthetic and playing right on the world map.

Ah, the ol' ESRB leak. Definitely sounds like it could be a spiritual successor to NES Remix on Wii U and 3DS.

Just give us a better Switch. More memory, more processing power, higher resolution, maybe a bigger screen. Don’t overthink this and reinvent the wheel.

Oh, and backwards compatible with continued access to NSO. Maybe make GCN games a feature on that service for the Switch 2 or Super Switch or Switcheroo or whatever they call the thing.

So i'm flying to Japan in a week for work. Looking for recommendations on games that are great to play in handheld mode.

Not everything looks good or more importantly feels good to play for long hours without the pro-controller.

I haven't played much in handheld mode, but Animal crossing seemed to be pretty good that way

BIg into JRPG'S. Something with less active combat would likely be good for portable.

I found Xenoblade chronicles 3 was unideal in handheld mode.

The encounter rate is pretty low in ECHH, it's pretty straight forward turn based also.

Very simple combat in Eiyuden. Think final fantasy sort of but not the one with the active meter.

Eiyuden is an absolutely fantastic game that was released WAY too early. The amount times it crashes makes it borderline unplayable.

Ah, that's too bad. I'm about 35 hours in and while it doesn't beat any Suikoden besides IV, it's still a blast and I'm eagerly awaiting any DLC news.

Yeah I still dropped ~30 hours into it but haven’t picked it up in a little less than a week due to those issues
