Nintendo Switch #2: 1 year later

Still haven’t bought it despite being a loyal Nintendo fanboy. I feel like it’s built quite the impressive line up of games I would love to have sitting there but nothing I’m desperate to play. Zelda, Donkey Kong Freeze, Mariokart are all incredible but I’ve had them all on wii u. I already have the Crash trilogy on PS4, so while the switch has great games there aren’t many exclusive to it yet, except Odyssey and I’m not paying $400 for that. People that didn’t get the wii u must be loving it but not enough original material for those like me.

I traded in a lot of the games for my wii-u so i can have it for the switch. (when i have time/money i'm gonna get the rest i don't have).

my wii-u is my VC/Wii machine, and my Wii is my GC machine so it still works out for me
Though i do hope they come up with more original games soon.

speaking of Original Games. I've finished Octopath.
the end lore was the most amazing stuff ever and it was all woven nicely.
i think truly it could have been more spectacular though. i think this game is a solid 9, 9.5 a little wobbly on the landing

Anyone here play the new Mario Tennis Aces game? Is it worth a pickup?

It can be a lot of fun, especially now that they fixed the cheesers that abused the trick shot. Story mode is lacking in originality and difficulty. I find myself playing the game less than I anticipated though. Splatoon 2 is a much better online experience.

As for new games, Dead Cells is getting fantastic reviews. 9.7 from IGN.

Thanks!

I went ahead and bought a pre-owned copy at GameStop. Somehow I'm an Elite Pro member (which is going the way of the dodo soon), which took an initial 20% off, then I stacked my birthday coupon--20% off 1 pre-owned item, and brought it down to $36 +tax.

Don't really online game, mainly just looking for vs. CPU action and playing against my fiancee.

Then it’ll definitely be a fun time. You can also try motion controls with the fiancée for more fun. I haven’t tried it out myself though.

Xenoblade 2 is a system seller for JRPG fans

ResetEra is a big videogame forum and their members just voted it as the 29th best RPG of all time.

Resetera's Top 101 Essential RPGs - Ranks 26-101 are up. More results will be posted soon.
look at what I said.

"while I mean, the releases have largely been 3-6 year old games released on other systems, indie games or party games. there no system seller in there."

There's no need to argue. I have a switch. it's been a dust collector for me though until recently with Octopath Traveler. Could never get into Xenoblade.[/B]

I traded in my PS4 to get a Switch. Not a single regret, I love it way more.

Though the only PC/Steam game I played on my computer is Civ V. So these Nindies releases are amazing for me, especially the portability aspect.

I traded my Xbox one for a Switch and constantly forget I ever owned it.

Spider-Man man is selling me on a PS4 though.

Getting closer towards the end of Octopath.. all about finished chapter 3 for all characters and most of my characters are at least decently leveled. Should be ready to go for at least a few of the lvl 4 chapters.

Once you find the library good enough and you get one, you are in for a treat =)

However and this is just a personal opinion of mine there's a lot of exclusives though and when people say there arent it just makes me wonder what "many exclusives" actually are. How many games are many in less than 1.5 years of existance?

Arms, Splatoon 2, Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Super Mario Odyssey, Snipperclips, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario Tennis Aces and Octopath Traveller are all stellar games and exclusives. Obviously there's more minor excluvies as well but I just went with the big ones.

But as you put it, those who didnt own a Wii U, are in for a treat.. just add games like MK8DX, Zelda: BotW, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Pokken, Captain Toad, Donkey Kong Country and more, you've got yourself an insane lineup.

Labo is doing rather well based on released numbers.
I know its just regional and my area, but all the Walmarts near me have stacks of Labo units in stock and have since it came out. They have Labo in 3 places. A front end cap, in the display case with switch games and near the photo centre. its crazy. either its not selling or they shipped massive amounts of labor

It's a holiday seller. It isn't meant to be moved at the same rate/pace than actual games.

Nintendo said the product has met expectations and with how conservative they are, you can be sure that if it wasn't the case they'd bail.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo is up on the eShop. Progress carries over to the full game, apparently.

Will be downloading that demo very soon.
Might try and snag Dead Cells soon on the eShop as well.
