I play in a beer league that is loaded with ex junior including OHL guys and the play is def. not 1/3 the speed. It isn't the same speed as the Q, but I realy don't see the big deal with this. It was a nice play, but people are making it seem like it was a miracle.

I agree with this. I can do this fairly smoothly myself with the caveat that I'm slower and don't have to worry about having my head taken off. I'd say most top-6 forwards in the NHL can do this. And I see it all the time in the beer leagues. Obviously anything an NHLer does is at a faster speed but you can say that for any move.

There are plenty of moves I see that I simply cannot do and I find far more impressive, like the Sedins or Kane stickhandling.

"lol" at the people pretending to be unimpressed. The puck is actually behind him in the neutral zone when he one arm slips the puck between his legs to bring it back to his now-switched forehand. And it all happens after pocketing one player and then deking another at a very very above average speed. Damnit I hate the Central.

Living in Halifax and watching him is unreal. His hands are incredible with good speed. Jets got themselves a great prospect.

It is a safe bet to say that I can't do that.

It is also pretty safe to say that I have issues with stickhandling and moving in a forward direction period.

This kid has talent.

That is all.

This kid is disgusting. He's going to be a superstar in the NHL.

Who is a good NHL comparable for Ehlers?

Do you remember a young Alexander Mogilny in his prime? That is exactly who Ehlers reminds me of. Nobody as much today - maybe a little bit of Kane or Datsyuk in style, but Ehlers does everything at top speed, like Mogilny did.

Edit: a short video of Mogilny...

Remember when people were amazed by Crosby's ability to take a bad pass to his skates and knock it up to his stick and people were like "WOW That's great"

It's nice/flashy, but a bunch of players can do that and can do this.

There is a big difference between pulling a flashy move for the sake of it and doing it when its the right play to do..

Kudos to ehlers hes very nice to watch

The most impressive part is the move he pulls when he has the stick pointing right. It's not an easy move on the forehand, let alone on your off hand with the curve facing the wrong way.

Can't recall seeing this before but looking at the way he pushed his body forward through the neutral zone I can see it being a natural thing to do. Fantastic example of puck control.

Amazing coordination. Especially to do it on the fly like that.

I've heard of Gordie Howe doing this back in the days before curved sticks, but this is the first time I've actually seen it in high-level gameplay.

That's because it's a dangerous play. Look at Ehlers head, he's paying too much attention to the puck and other players sticks. If he tried that in the NHL, he could very well be lying down on the ice
