Same reason other players sign in other markets, because they want toWhy would he sign in Montreal to play with his buddy for one year and scrap to make the playoffs every year.

Good luck with that.Same reason other players sign in other markets, because they want to![]()
Definitely don’t want Marner. Not a playoff warrior and we wouldn’t be able to extend practically anyone with the salary he’d demand. Rather have depth than follow the TML modelIf Carolina wants to get him and take themselves out of the Marner race so Sabres odd's go up lol. I wouldn't mind him in buffalo but Peterka probably has to go to get him.
I wonder about this too. I think he absolutely could get 10M, but I can't imagine it being a contract that most look at favourably if he does. I guess it depends on if he would rather get the max payday, or get paid well and still not get heat from fans if he isn't producing at another level from what he had in the past.should a player that never hit 70 points really get double digits? entering his 30s too
If Marner signs right away it will be like winning a lottery for EhlersSome of these numbers being thrown out are crazy. I know the cap is going up but I wouldn't want to pay him anywhere near 9M. He's a 7.5M tops in my opinion.
I guess I'm just spoiled as a Utah fan when it comes to contracts. Guenther is locked up for the next 8 years @7.1M, nevermind Keller at the same price for the next few years. Not saying Ehlers wouldn't be a great add to any team, just would hard to stomach if he was the highest paid player on Utah.If Marner signs right away it will be like winning a lottery for Ehlers
What part of "not saying this is what's going to happen" don't you understand?Good luck with that.
The rest of your daydream paragraph. What part of "not saying this is what's going to happen" don't you understand?
I thought you guys were rebuilding? I was kind of hoping Barzal might hit the trade marketEhlers-Horvat-Barzal would look pretty sexy on the Island
I think even him at 8 isnt a great deal and bound to regress before it expires, 10 will give him negative value right out the gate imoI wonder about this too. I think he absolutely could get 10M, but I can't imagine it being a contract that most look at favourably if he does. Signing Ehlers but not keeping Guentzel…a bad decision.Carolina.
Carolina.
What team has been trying to solve top line LW for a couple of seasons via deadline deals?
Carolina.
The only debate I see for Carolina is if both Marner and Ehlers get to July 1, who do they think they should prioritize?
A tier below?A tier below a guy like Marner if he hits UFA but what would interested teams be looking at a contract for Nikolaj Ehlers in the offseason.
Jets have lots of cap space so they can absolutely retain him and offer the 8th year as well but will his price maybe be too high?
Having an excellent season and just turned 29. Very consistent as well as always gets into that 25G + 35A range but in shortened seasons (and this full season as well) he has flirted with PPG stats.
There are a number of other LW on the market this offseason but he would be at the top of the list for a scoring LW.
I meant a tier below in the UFA rankings and no one else seemed to have any issues with understanding this. Why else would I compare him to Marner? It’s only because they will two of the top wingers that maybe come to the UFA market this summerA tier below?
More like a couple of tiers.
Given his injury history and inconstancy I sure hope my Canucks don't sign him as I see his contract being not worth it.
He also is a tier below Marner in the playoff department and that would make teams wary.
