Name one?Teams that think he isn't a bottom pairing defenseman, and believe me, there are teams that think that.

What part of the isles felt they needed Martin's and Komarov's leadership/mentoring goes your head? The idea ain't coming out of nowhere. He took Komarov and Martin from the Leafs. Never no when a right handed D will come in handy. Babcock still likes him. I'm betting Lou does too.
LMAO, what a pipe dream. Not a single GM is gonna do you guys any favors this offseason. Dubas has steadily backed himself into a corner from which there is no retreat.
Not sure how Matt Martin got into this thread but I agree he was a beast today and this year, worth every cent of his contract. Trotz had him on the ice late in game protecting the lead and has used him trustingly in games on the 4th line that plays like a 3rd line. He was a steal of an acquisition by Lou for the Isles this year. A steal.Matt Martin's contract was actually front loaded. His salary this season is $2.25 million and next year it's a very manageable $1.75 million.
MM is not trash either. He was misused in Toronto. He's played very well on the fourth line with the first place Islanders.

That's nice. And according to Babcock, he feels Zaitsev is one of the best at stopping the cycle. It's the old GM/coach way of explaining away bad decisions/players. If Lou did acquire Zaitsev, he'd find his own way to spin it around. Funny how you talk about Zaitsev being a 3rd pairing D. You realize both Martin and Komarov are 4th liners too right? It makes no difference. What part of the isles felt they needed Martin's and Komarov's leadership/mentoring goes your head?
What part of the isles wanted to improve the bottom 6 is too difficult to understand?
And what part of the isles have better, younger and cheaper RHD then Zaitsev?
Finally, how hard is it to grasp that the press indicates Lou wants boost the top 6 by adding a skilled Panarin or Duchene on July 1st. Isles will not be wasting $4.5m on your 3rd pairing D

Looking for a cheap left wing or serviceable bottom pair D on a cheap deal for next season, ideally a right shot. Leafs can add a pick/prospect to make it work depending on what is coming back.
Would Philly do Gudas for Zaitsev and a third and a B prospect?

Dude they’ve already helped Toronto . Regardless how he is viewed to you, having Matt Martin in our lineup locked in this summer would certainly have us in cap hell. Hell taking Komarov who’d be taking a chunk of cap space too helped the Leafs out too. I’m glad they worked out for the isles. But taking away those contracts helped. Whose to say Zaitsev couldn’t help a team. If two of Toronto’s fourth liners that we were glad to get rid of helped a team, who’s to say a mobile right handed bottom pairing d two year removed from playing top line minutes from the leafs could be worth the 4.5 mil on another team. You really trying to compare trading for Martin's 2 yr/ $5m contract with Zaitsev's remaining 5 yr/ $22m+ contract?
One is a low risk trade, while the other eats up $4.5m per in cap space when the isles will be trying for Panarin/ Duchene in July and giving Barzal a big raise.
Totally fantasy on your part that the isles with younger, cheaper and better blueline options will be bailing Toronto's out of caphell.
sat nite against Montreal he was a world class talentName one?

Well thank you Isles for helping out Toronto by taking their other cap headaches. Hopefully a team will be as generous as the Isles were and "help themselves" out by taking the last of Toronto's cap headaches. They identified a need to add leadership & mentoring in an effort to change the culture in the NYI locker room.
THE ISLES HELPED THEMSELVES.
The result is 1st place in the metro after 50+ games.
You cannot be as clueless as you appear.Ignorimg that at a time they want to add one of Panarin/Stone/Duchene ,they will not screw up their cap by adding a $4.5m 3rd pairing D.
Zaitsev is Toronto's cap headache. Enjoy
Martin would have also said yes if the Isles traded for him, put him on LTIR and let him just be around the team all season. I haven't seen a guy love the Islanders as much since DiPietro did and refused to retire/give up playing after years of injuries. They identified a need to add leadership & mentoring in an effort to change the culture in the NYI locker room.
