Need to see more. Haven’t paid attention to him enough. Imho even though it’s cool that harkins wins face offs and plays good d. Harkins has 1 goal, rhats the kind of guy that needs to be upgraded by next season. Even If that means overpaying. Ideally nester is someone you would hope could become a replacement fromThoughts on him so far?
We have already overpaid for the upgrade... hopefully we improve the top 6 and move Killorn down to the 4th line. Let him play lighter minutes and PK. Not that it will happen (especially with Cronin)Need to see more. Haven’t paid attention to him enough. Imho even though it’s cool that harkins wins face offs and plays good d. Within. But need more time to see what’s going on here

I don’t have a beef with Harkins other than the fact he doesn’t score any goals. Everything else is great for a 4th line guy. Not surprising he was doing that well with the gulls. They could use him for sure again. He can allow the kids to develop properly maybe down thereHarkins wasn't originally part of our NHL group and slated to be in the AHL for veteran leadership and sheltering the kids. Several forwards getting injured and our lack of faceoffs to start the season has helped make Harkins an NHL mainstay. Before being called up, Harkins was the Gulls leading scorer with a huge gap to the second scorer, Colangelo. I wouldn't mind retaining Harkins, provided he's slated for the AHL again next year.
Upgrading the fourth line seems cheesy when it's our top-6/9 that needs upgrading or vast improvement either via player or better coaching.
As for Nesterenko, he had a not so good first game on his call up. But in his games afterwards, he has shown off his speed. That's gonna get him into better situations for positioning, puck retrievals, being an outlet for defensemen, laying hits, etc... He's got 11 hits in only four games. In a way, that's similar to how Harkins is playing on the 4th line. But like you said, it's a small sample and would like to see more of him.
