As a Canes fan I feel it’s a real tweet, but yes the intentions aren’t clear for sure as we aren’t hearing anything else yet.

There’s a strong possibility it’s a tweet about Tulsky flying to Russia to play hardball by torturing them with his voice and vocal pacing.

Even with the Rantanen saga, the Canes took a home run swing and struck out. They still were able to make out with Stankoven and several picks.

The rumor is yes, they are negotiating that. I'd imagine SKA offered Nikishin as much $$ as possible. I'd also imagine Nikishin has some information about how much $$ he'll get on an expiring ELC as well as what contract terms the Hurricanes are looking at for his 2nd contract. I'm sure any good agent would advise his client something like:

"OK Alex you'll make R$X rubles from SKA, and the Hurricanes will offer you $3M max performance incentive ELC with this signing bonus and $7M long term deal"


And I'm also sure Alex wants his money and the agent wants Alex to get that money so he gets his.

Yes they can. Any player on a multi year deal can sign an extension as soon as July 1 of the summer before it expires.
