Rumor: Alexander Nikishin contract dispute?

Tulsky said previously that it would be difficult to put him in the lineup without seeing him in game action. Practice alone is unlikely to dislodge an everyday defenseman; Canes have 6 of those. He didn't make it over in time to play in a regular season game. Hence, they're holding off from making it official, so that he can potentially play in the AHL.

With that being said, he's on the road trip to New Jersey. He's not in Chicago. They might be rethinking this, particularly if he's unhappy about the situation.

They literally announced this. Makes zero sense. Someone’s lying.

I don't doubt that he would be unhappy playing AHL games, but if you're wondering who might be lying, I'd start with the source of this rumor.... A KHL agent who would love nothing more than to have Nikishin back in Russia so he could represent him again, given he is signed to a different agency and agent here in the US.

I dunno, just seems like there might be some kind of motivation there

I'd be okay with a 1-for-1 swap, but there certainly wouldn't be a 1st on PIT's side.
Rakell is career 50-60 point player and that’s generous as he has only hit 60 points what 3 times. Career year of 70 points at age 31 which is doubtfull he repeats. That doesn’t get you potentially the best defensive/ let alone prospect outside the nhl.

The deal is agreed to, but has not been signed.

They did this so Nikishin can sign an AHL PTO and play for the Chicago Wolves in their playoff run.

Once that's not an option they'll formally sign the contract

Nikishin is represented by Quartexx Management.
The agent leaking this stuff (Alexander Chernykh) is a European partner for Quartexx Management.

And as is being reported, the agent is likely covering for his own incompetence....

From a Sr. Editor for NHL.ru...

Also, Nikishin's actual agent released a statement to clarify things....

How silly of fans not of the Hurricanes to believe someone who is still technically his agent bitching and the fact he still hasn’t played a game for the Hurricanes or signed a contract be taken seriously.

Will have to make sure to look up US agent opinions only from now on.

Okay, then they should retract their statement. They said signed on their tweet. It’s misleading on important information. It’s not a minor thing. A verbal agreement and a signed written contract are not the same thing and don’t have the same type of enforcement, especially given the statements being made from Nikishin’s side.
