I'd be okay with a 1-for-1 swap, but there certainly wouldn't be a 1st on PIT's side.sorry to say the added 1st would not be on Carolina’s side my man
They literally announced this. Makes zero sense. Someone’s lying.

Ah, that explains why PuckPedia has him listed as having signed a contract.
God that’s funnyHow about Karlsson for Nikishin? PIT can retain on Karlsson and add a little sweetener if necessary.
The team announced he signed an ELC. Either they should retract that statement or it’s true.![]()
Alexander Nikishin Is Technically Unsigned, But Hurricanes Aren't At All Worried
Carolina Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky revealed Wednesday on a Zoom call with local media, that new defenseman Alexander Nikishin has not yet technically signed his contract with the team.thehockeynews.com
Rakell is career 50-60 point player and that’s generous as he has only hit 60 points what 3 times. Career year of 70 points at age 31 which is doubtfull he repeats. That doesn’t get you potentially the best defensive/ let alone prospect outside the nhl.I'd be okay with a 1-for-1 swap, but there certainly wouldn't be a 1st on PIT's side.

Repeat this part again.outside the nhl.
I don't doubt that he would be unhappy playing AHL games, but if you're wondering who might be lying, I'd start with the source of this rumor.... A KHL agent who would love nothing more than to have Nikishin back in Russia so he could represent him again, given he is signed to a different agency and agent here in the US.
I dunno, just seems like there might be some kind of motivation there
Nikishin is represented by Quartexx Management.
The agent leaking this stuff (Alexander Chernykh) is a European partner for Quartexx Management.
The deal is agreed to, but has not been signed.
They did this so Nikishin can sign an AHL PTO and play for the Chicago Wolves in their playoff run.
Once that's not an option they'll formally sign the contract
Also to all the offers in this thread
There is no combination of assets from Boston that would get Nikishin without including PastaLohrei and leafs 2026 first
