Nicolas Roy to have hearing with NHL Player Safety for cross checking Trent Frederic (fined $7,812.50)

Sorry I'm not saying it shouldn't have an effect on the outcome...obviously intent to do something is always far worse, I'm saying that "he shouldn't be punished because it was an accident" is the wrong way to look at it

And yes DOPS is bad
Yeah I said he deserved a game, but I'm not going to sit here and complain about it because I feel the intent wasn't there, and Frederic was still able to return.

Intent is always a part of punishment. That's even how our legal system works. I said it probably deserved 1 game, but I'm not going to get too upset over him getting nothing. DOPS is bad we all know that.

As you know kids, you can't spell DoPS without POS.

This was probably the most random crosscheck to the face I've ever seen. It just when 0-100 out of nowhere.

I think he thought he could maybe make it look like he was going for the puck?

Anyway, I have like, so little discretionary income, but I’ll pay $7812 (and 50 cents) to crosscheck Bennett in the face. Seriously, nhl, it can be a whole charity thing. I’m as serious about this as the DoPS is a serious organization.

You called the Montreal Canadiens whiners and losers when they took three cross-checks to the face (Gallagher twice, Caufield). Not a single penalty was called — NONE. Not a 2-minute, not a 5-minute, no fine, no suspension!

The Capitals should have received major penalties, but no… it’s Ovechkin’s team after all…

The Oilers should count themselves lucky for getting a 5-minute power play…

This league is a complete joke… zero consistency.

Honestly infuriating as a Habs fan. How do we have 3 crosschecks to the face go uncalled and unpunished where Roy might get games on top of his 5 minute major?

f***ing bush league.
I've heard from a number of talking heads this playoffs, including Friedman and Dreger, saying that the NHL/DoPS look at EVERYTHING. I just assumed they look at everything the day after from every angle but they obviously don't. They probably watch it as it happens then forgets about it, unless it's something that the on-ice refs called or something extremely obvious.

The biggest issue is that the common fan doesn't understand the DoPS, they need to do a better job of clarifying how they got to the assessment of punishment for EVERYTHING they are involved in.

So instead you decide to come in here and defend it?

Roy saw Frederic make a move to cross-check him, so he decided to cross-check him back.

That is a much more believable and simple (Ockham's Razor) explanation than your long convoluted post as to why he was just trying to bat the puck away from Frederic's face with two-handed, bone-crushing force.

I'd be a little worried for my safety right now if I was an NHL player.

Edmonton should feel lucky that the league didn't send the Oiler's conditional 3rd round pick to the Flames as a part of this Roy's crosscheck settlement. These days, you never know.

I bet if they had called Arvy for that trip in OT and Vegas had scored so the series was tied 1-1, Roy would have been given 1 game.

It’s insane to base your decision making about player safety on who’s leading the series.

I said to a friend after the game that with Parros’ incompetence, I was expecting the missed trip to cancel out the suspension. I just wished I was proven wrong. Matthews got 2 games and McDavid got 3 games for cross checks that weren’t this bad. This is just another in the long list of why he should be fired. It’s reached the point I would even rather Campbell back, because he at least only favoured his kid’s team. Parros you just have no clue what to expect. He’s the worst to ever hold the position.
