Value of: Nicolas Hague

Maybe in the offseason for a similar aged scoring wing. No reason to move him in season unless they upgrade on him at LD.

Not sure Hague is a top pair material, or a good partner for Seider. Would think a quicker, more agile defensivily minded guy should be a better fit (ie an LD version of Whitecloud, or a Hanifin if we are dreaming - just stylistic examples, not suggesting Vegas would trade these guys).

Vegas will probably lose Hague after next season. His open market value is quite a bit higher than what Vegas will be able to afford (probably 4 to 5M).

Well, with Krug potentially done, Leddy potentially done, Suter most likely retiring and Fowler with 1 year left going into 2025-26 season, I wonder if Hague would be of interest to STL as a depth LD for 3-5 years. Potential to play a complimentary 2nd pair role or a consistent 3rd pair and PK role. I think he's like 6'6 ish and is still young w/ cup experience.

Figure he could help buy time while the blues develop their young D (Lindstein, Jiricek, fischer, Ralph etc..) and maybe provide some quality defensive play with underrated puck moving ability. And i'd imagine the acquisition cost would be relatively cheap.

The cap increase probably smooths the re-sign.
Around 9 million in capspace, 18 contracts, and no other significant players expecting a raise. Should be able to get things to work out if the cap jumps to the expected 95 million.

Real question to me is how much are they willing to pay him when they already have a ton invested in Hanifin and Theodore through the 27-28 season. They got the capspace to do it though should they want to

I don't know, but I suspect that McCrimmon already has a "take it or leave it" number where he will pay up to that amount and not a cent more, which is why we lost Carrier, Marchessault and Amadio last season. Also, the Knights have to start planning some space to re-sign Eichel after the 25-26 season, which will very likely be something in the nosebleed Matthews-McDavid altitudes.

BOTOH, Cassidy can't have enough quality defensemen. I sometimes think that Cassidy's ideal dream team has no forwards or centers but just defensemen. So, Cassidy will probably be beating on McCrimmon's door to keep Hague at whatever price.

We'll see.
