Confirmed with Link: Nicolas Aube-Kubel signed, 1 year, $1.5M; waived 1/27/25

Recreating the Caps d-zone line in the aggregate by just getting 2/3rds of the line.
That line gets so much credit by Caps fans for dragging the Caps corpse into the playoffs last year. I think certain fans are really overlooking how much an elite 4th line can impact a game.

I remember Martin and Clutterbuck (forget the C at the time) being one of the Isles most effective lines in the playoffs 5 or so years ago. Im sure teams DREADED going againt them. Im pretty psyched about it, honestly, though I still have concerns about the top-9.

Cizikas.

The knee injury didn't help and it seems Adams may have learned the engine that really makes the Caps fourth line go was in fact Nic Dowd.

I wonder if some team puts in a claim. I don't really have feelings one way or the other.

He's shown he can be effective as a 4th liner in the right circumstance. That said, I think that $1.5M tag is going to scare teams away.

I thought that the NAK signing (and the other moves to improve the bottom 6) were good, solid moves to remake the roster. This one didn't work out and I'm thankful that it appears they realize that and are giving Kozak a chance.

Honestly it wasn't that long ago that I doubt Adams would have admitted his mistake and kept NAK on the roster.

The only thing he was preventing Kozak from having was a spot in the press box.

250k was signing bonus, so we're looking at 1.25 mil in prorated salary.

I think he gets claimed and becomes an effective 4th line contributor elsewhere.

That would be my guess as well. Though if the knee injury is still hampering him, he might not be effective until next season.
