Then we got Suzuki+, who is a comparable player to Thomas...
We will see how that shakes out. Thomas was instrumental in the playoffs helped blues win a cup. When Suzuki does that then you can compare. Thomas will be our future 1 c.

Too close to call for me at the moment.

Suzuki's high end at everything though, so I'm fairly confident he'll be a top player in the next few years. But I love Thomas.

The problem here is both could have been Canadiens if MB didn't have a lump of diarrhea where his brain should be. He doesn't believe in moving up and we certainly had the assets to do and nab Thomas.

That might have prevented us from drafting KK, who this team can't develop, and go for a more ready forward.

Wait, Suzuki has to win a cup to be comparable? Is Thomas also better than Jack eichel?
No he needs to stand out, drive the play and be exceptional when playing the top tier teams in the league. He is the reason Steen and bozak maroon are were succesful

So Suzuki needs to score at least 1 goal in 21 playoff games, got it
6 points 21 games as a 19 year old rookie on a line with bozak and maroon. But hey Thomas won the vote. So I guess others agree with me and disagree with you. Goo luck with that

At the start of the season, I would have said: "no contest, it's Thomas". By early-December I would have said: "hmm, there's a case for both". But by now... it's looking like it's Suzuki. He just keeps improving and surprising in every single aspect. I was sure we got the worst of the 3 Vegas prospects (Glass/Brannstrom/Suzuki) but Suzuki's really freaking amazing, and frankly, was Vegas' best prospect.

The thing is once Suzuki got comfortable and was given top 6 duties, he's been on fire. If he'd started the year the same way he'd be right near the top of calder votes. Playing at a 70+ point pace since mid dec when he started getting more icetime.

And while the injuries mean he's had more opportunity, he hasn't been given the luxury of playing with our top scorers (Tatar/Gallagher).

Thomas is a great young C, but I feel Suzuki will eclipse him next year if he hasn't already.

I think thats where you might be wrong. He's been as effective as any forwards on the Habs defensively, theres a reason why Julien loves him. Julien, the guy who hates all youngsters, went out of his way to call him a "future" Bergeron.

Im not sure the comment you made is actually warranted or motivated by viewings but rather by some pre-conceived opinion that a skilled player cannot be good defensively, or that the less skill a player has, the better he should be defensively. Suzuki blows Thomas out of the water IQ wise and skill wise.
There's a large gap between Suzuki and Selke contender. You sound ridiculous right now.

Close call both are good on both sides of the puck, similar size, high IQ players. I gave the slight edge to Suzuki.

Another point by Suz... 5 in his last 3. Thanks STLs.

I don't know, is Danault a Selke contender ? Because I surely wouldnt say that Suzuki is much worse than him.
He didn't even get 5% of the vote last season, so I wouldn't call him a contender.

Looks like Zuzuzu is still mad at you guys.
Another two points.

Suzuki is a top 6 forward right now and hell top out as an elite player.

So, thanks for agreeing with what I said...

Why do you think we personally care about this? Thomas has 26 points in his last 32 games playing with Bozak and Steen. I can assure you, we don't care what Suzuki is doing, and I'm glad he's successful for you guys lol.

Thomas is the more polished and well-rounded player at this point, but i'd take Suzuki right now. I think he's got more headroom to grow into. He's just getting started. Thomas is also very good and does still have some room to grow as a player, but the maturity in his game already, makes me think he's closer to his "ceiling". Thomas would be my pick for a playoff series today...but Suzuki is close enough in that regard, and for the future i'd lean toward the bigger scoring upside i see there.

Run of bad games for Suzuki and MTL, Thomas has still been plugging along. Could be the extra season of experience helping him in the grind.

Suzuki 70 GP: 13G 27A 40P
Thomas 64 GP: 10 G 31A 41P
