Nick Suzuki has levelled up as a premier centre

Tier 1 - can win art ross/hart/lindsay on any given year

1. McDavid
2. MacKinnon
3. Draisatl

Tier 2 - Superstars
4. Matthews
5. Crosby
6. Barkov

Tier 3
7. Eichel
8. J. Hughes
9. Brayden point
10 Mark Scheifele

Then we have the tier 4 #1 C where Suzuki lands.

Suzuki, Hischier, Petterson, Thomas, Stutzle, Larkin, Hintz, Aho, Miller, Keller, Tavares, Johnson, etc.

Nick is close to have a shot at tier 3

MTL has been on interesting trajectory since they snatched Suzuki from VGK.

It was quite clear from the beginning the deal was horrendous for VGK, but they've gone with their all-in attitude ever since. MTL on the other hand has had long time plan, that seems to be paying off: they have managed to gather some of the best talent in NHL and make it stick without losing the working class brand. Hutson (based on todays solo coast-to-coast goal alone) could be a "generational talent", Suzuki is very smart for a hockey player, picks his words fantastic and is seemingly a top tier captain in leadership sense.

We’re still talking about that cake walk series vs the leafs in 21? I wish the habs decided to try a little earlier than game 5 but once they did it was all over
You got it backward, once the Leafs had 3 wins they were finished.

Yeah. Until the playoffs started and we realized why the F did we waste 14 million on this loser?

The idea is that having a player effortlessly putting up points on a constant basic, it makes it easier for the whole roster and we easily get to the playoffs. And when we get there, we have clutch guys to make up for it.

Yea if only the habs injured Tavares in game 1 the series would be over a lot sooner

Strange that habs fans are still complaining about kreider injuring price but they conveniently ignore the fact that toronto lost Tavares and Winnipeg lost scheifele in back to back series against the habs.

Dom alphabet. That was certainly a take.
The article he posted about that even said he'd be wrong. He used his model to spit out numbers for an article and gave his comments.

I really wish people actually read the article they like to bring up since Dom clearly said he doesn't actually agree with it.

When the Habs play the Leafs I almost always notice Suzuki in a good way. Very smart player, rarely makes a bad decision with the puck in the offensive zone.

I don't see him jumping into the top tier of centers but he's definitely a #1C - no shit you'd rather have Mackinnon or Barkov but a perennial PPG center is a very nice development curve for him.

Schefele took himself out of that series because he’s a moron. And tavares saw perrys knee coming and did nothing.

Injuries are part of hockey. Happens. Doesn’t take away from that being the easiest series of 2021 for Montreal

It took over a decade but habs fans have finally admitted that injuries are part of hockey:

Im triggered almost as much as seeing that useless midget in a habs uniform.

Again, easiest, least entertaining series of 2021. Only positive of it was the leafs fans reactions but even those were a letdown.

I absolutely did.

The argument afterward is this; if you churn out an algo that forces you to notify the readers that some results are wrong/bad/erronous, why do you then proceed to further the promotion of said algo?

It’s self defeating. If I were to produce an analysis at work that needs a banner asking the reader, my bosses in this instant, to forego the results from the get go, I’d be asked to join a meeting with HR.

I'm "conveniently" forgetting which player Vegas lost that year that would explain why the Habs beat them.

2 things that are often overlooked when we talk about Suzuki.

1- He's never injured. Currently in a 449 games streak.

2- He almost never gets penalty. Only 6 minutes this season. He could very well earn the Lady Bing. (As well as the Selke!)

14 fricking million dollars is gonna be his ask. What if Demidov gets comparable numbers to him in his second year? What if Hutson waits until we sign Marner to re-sign? They'd both want near 14mil as well. Congratulations, you've just inherited TML's f'd up wage cap structure. Congratulations, your Cup contention window is closed.

Just damn foolish as an ask. The people that ask to trade for Crosby are more reasonable.

I'd take Tavares on a discount. I believe he was cup chasing when he signed in Toronto 7 years ago. Signing with a team like Montreal could give him a real chance to achieve that goal.

He’s played himself into top 10 center conversation for sure(idk if he quite breaks in yet) …. He has a legit shot at 90 points.

Over the last 2 seasons combined, he should end up over ppg.

Crazy they got via trade.
Crazier that the Canadiens would have ended up with Cody Glass had Vegas given in to Marc Bergevin. Good thing he was willing to settle for Nick Suzuki.

Then he shouldn't have posted it.

I mean, pretty much anything he does is f***ing terrible and shouldn't be posted, but when you just random piss out numbers and don't agree with it, maybe don't post that as an actual article.

I agree with your assessment of tiers 1 and 2 C's (maybe Hughes could be in tier 2) but personally, I think the players you have in tiers 3 and 4 are all fairly close and could be interchanged depending on their year (good or bad).

Suzuki has also played on very bad teams for most of his career to this point. He's improving steadily every year and is now getting to play on a more competitive (deeper) team, and I think he can still continue to improve as well. People calling him a 2c are out to lunch.
